Yeah, Florida's weak non-conference schedule, beating the team that won the Big East tournament, a team that reached the ACC semifinals, and a team that finished 5th overall in the ACC.

At any rate, this is not about Florida's seed, its about yours, which most of the thinking people on here seem to agree is a bit high.

Ok, beating Syracuse who had one good week all year (wouldn't have made the tourney without that run.) And beating a team that reached the ACC semi's (and didn't make the tourney) and the number 5 team in the ACC (when only 4 made the tourney) is not what I consider a tough non conference schedule.

I do not EVER want to read another thread on here about the sports world not respecting UT. A #2 seed? You play Winthrop and then, like, Billy Ray Valentine? Stunning. I mean, a solid #4 and perhaps a #3 if everything fell into place, but a #2 seed is absurd. Those guys are on crack.

At any rate, neither me (nor the rest of the non-crack smoking world, evidently) gets a vote. So good luck to you (as I walk off shaking my head in utter disbelief)....

The seeds were based heavily on RPI rankings, which I think is fairer and takes out some of the bias of the polls.

RPI

1. Duke (29-3)
2. Villanova (25-4)
3. Memphis (30-3)
4. Ohio St (25-4)
5. Connecticut (27-3)
6. Tennessee (21-7)
7. Texas (27-5)
8. Gonzaga (27-3)
9. UCLA (27-6)
10. Iowa (24-8)

Texas = beat when had one bad week by you.

Lookit, you have a good team. Just don't defend a surprisingly high seed by attacking Florida. We got what we deserved. You got more than you deserved.

I respect that. I said solid 4 and maybe even a 3, which is saying you ought to be in Sweet 16. But a 2? Come on!

I'm right there with you law. I'm still picking my jaw up off the ground. I'm extermely happy for our team but at the same time I try to stay in touch with reality as much as posible and the reality is we are not deserving of a 2. 3 maybe, 4 is more like it, but a 2..... I just can't wrap my mind around it. :dunno:

So, its ok for you to come on here and attack UT for earning a 2 seed, but I can't give you reasons for why Florida sucks.

Take dropping from the second ranked team in the nation to a 3 seed that will lose to Bruce's boys (UW Milwaukee) for the 3rd time this year, like the pathetic Florida fan you are.

Sigh.

The original point was my shock at your seeding. You responded, not by defending it, but by attacking UF. Which of course makes no sense. Might as well have told me, "Oh, yeah? Well, my dog likes mulch."

So I did what? I defended my team's seeding by what? Talking about what my team did !!

And by the way, my shock at your seeding follows weeks of handing out compliments to the program and to Pearl especially. But acknolwedging your success does not mean I turn a blind eye to what makes sense to me objectively, which in weeks past has been to question, in a rational way, your size and depth. And then today that included objective evidence that your seed is a bit high.

Arguing that Florida sucks is just not much of an answer.

No, you have subjective evidence that our seed is too high. I take offense though when someone comes in here and tells us we don't deserve a 2 seed after we played one of the toughest schedules in the nation and still won 21 games. I do not think that UNC or Gonzaga deserved to be seeded ahead of us...Gonzaga racks up over 20 wins against teams that range between like 80-150 in the RPI and UNC loses as many games as we do, and their best non conference win comes against Kentucky.

Well, we agree on the Gonzaga part of that. They are perennial underachivers come March.

Underachievers? They've been notching upsets pretty consistently until the last year or so. They got a good seed last year and didn't do as well as they should have. Any other teams you can think of that have bowed out early in recent years :biggrin2:

look, I hate Florida as much as any law-abiding UT fan, but unless they're playing each other, I root for SEC teams in the tournament. When they do well, it's good for the conference, and good for everyone involved. So hats off to Florida for gutting out a tough, tough win over a determined South Carolina team today, and good luck to our 6 SEC representatives that are Dancing.

that being said, as stunned as I am by UT's #2 seed, how could everyone here not be overjoyed? Some people around here need to stop putting such a negative spin on everything and just let themselves enjoy some love from the NCAA for a change!

And I have found LawGator to be polite and respectful. A far cry from most Florida fans.

Just goes to show the talking heads on TV don't know Jack, they are too busy trying to pump up their Pools while its rather obvious by all the seedings RPI and SOS had more to do with it than the media Polls.

still its shocking at least to me, that the ''powers that be'' in the NCAA sportsworld went this route. He has a point that we expected ribeye and got filet mignon, whereas I myself was expecting cheeseburger run thru the garden.
