Haven't looked at it recently but their Margin of Victory (MOV) was high overall but 2nd in the SEC about 2/3rds of the way through -- in other words, beat the crap out of non-conf. teams.

That said, they did win the SEC tourney and have the talent to make a run.

Oh, I agree completely, I was just pointing out that it is easy for a team of their caliber to score on those cupcakes.

I hate to pile on Gonzaga, but I agree completely. Gonzaga has got to be the most overexposed mid-major in the history of college basketball. It's like the media got tired of Gonzaga making tournament runs, so they all got together and decided to put them in the top 10 and talk about them all the time so they would look smart just in case they made the Sweet 16.

Don't get me wrong, they are a really nice team and Morrison is a great player, but I'm not quite buying them.

I'm not trying to sell them as overrated/underrated... I'm talking about the merit of their seeding vs. Tennessee's this season. First, Gonzaga didn't just win their conference, they went undefeated in it. That is extremely tough anywhere. And how can you even try and put a positive spin on going 2-4 to end the season? It's a cold streak. Period, end of discussion. You can't make that kind of run at the end of your season and rightfully get a 2-seed, unless you're previously undefeated or one-loss. It just doesn't work that way. So when you get past that, who deserves that 2-seed? I think Gonzaga has to be the first team to jump out at you.

But, the seeds are set. So that's that.

Honestly, I think one of two things will happen with Florida: they'll lose in the first or second round, or they'll go to the Final Four. Nothing in between. They have the talent to go very deep, but the inconsistency to lose to anyone.

In fact, the same principle holds true for LSU.

And Memphis.

I agree I'm picking the zags to be upset in the 2nd round. no defense doesnt usually go far in the tournament.

I am going to go on record and state that going undefeated in the WCC is not extremely tough. Other than Gonzaga, I do know there is one other team in that conference that is in the top 50, and I doubt there is one that is in the top 100. No WCC teams are going to the either the NCAA tourney or NIT which cannot be said for any other conference in which they placed a team as high as a #3 seed.

Also, the selection committee looks at the final 10 games, not the final 6, or the final 2, etc. In our last 10 games we went 6-4, wins at Rupp and at Florida, and we were playing against great competition. If we ended our season with 10 games against teams outside the top 100, then I have little doubt we would be entering the NCAA tournament on a 10 game winning streak.

My point is, in the discussin about Gonzaga, you cannot seperate them from the WCC. It is a package deal, and their conference is one of the weakest conferences in the nation.

I do not EVER want to read another thread on here about the sports world not respecting UT. A #2 seed? You play Winthrop and then, like, Billy Ray Valentine? Stunning. I mean, a solid #4 and perhaps a #3 if everything fell into place, but a #2 seed is absurd. Those guys are on crack.

At any rate, neither me (nor the rest of the non-crack smoking world, evidently) gets a vote. So good luck to you (as I walk off shaking my head in utter disbelief)....

I agree that was a little high, but still ESPN has no respect for us. We get lots of media coverage but they are always negative about us. Why are you on a UT message board anyway if you don't like us?

As noted in the middle of the thread, I was very surprised by your seeding and then I also admitted to antagonizing you guys a bit over it. In my defense, seems like I am not alone in questioning it. Heck, most of the folks on here seem to think it is a little highe. But as I have also said, it doesn't really matter what I think of it because I got no vote in the process. And the bracket is set, so play the games.

I must also confess that, as surprised as I am at your seeding, I am more surprised at the torrent of skepticism out there on your chances to get to the Sweet 16. I mean, there's suddenly guys all over the place saying they pick you to lose to Winthrop! I just don't get that.

Sure, upsets happen. I don't think many people expected Florida to lose to Manhattan a couple back. So anyone can go down in the right circumstance.

But as much as I think a 2 seed is high for you based on the way you ended the season, I really would favor you in each of your first two games and pretty heavily at that.

I post here because I see no point in visiting a board of Florida fans like myself who are either going to bandwagon me to the point of total boredom or be Chicken Littles to the point I cry. Much better to get outsider's perspective on things and besides which I enjoy the teasing back and forth.
