UMASS at Florida

I don't get the Coleman Thomas situation. What happened to him since last year? He was an all conference type talent at center last year

When you have a QB as mobile as Dobbs and use misdirection as well as we do, it slows down the rush. If a QB is never going to stay in the pocket then why rush up the middle and take yourself out of the play? Last year Coleman Thomas didn't deal with much of a rush.
Look at the last drive of the Bama and UF game. With time running out and us needing to score they knew running was pretty much off the table. Our O-line looked like garbage in both situations.

No one has changed the goalposts except you and your buddy when you try to compare him to Dobbs. You got mad that I called Del Rio's performance what it was, average at best.

I understand you are excited to have anyone other than Treon back there. I get it. That said, there's a reason Del Rio is at his 3rd school and, before last night, had 18 career passes since 2013.

Hope springs eternal though.

And there is a reason you all are holding out hope on Dobbs as a senior who has shown no improvement period from his sophomore year in play on the field. It is sad that the 2 better quarterbacks in overall talent sit behind him on the bench because of Dobbs' experience. He is at his ceiling whereas the 2 young qbs have higher ceilings.

Well stated truth.

I've come to believe it is fear of starting any of the new guys and being criticized for that.

Last year vs Florida, Dobbs led Tennessee in passing, rushing and receiving. He accounted for 277 yards of total offense. Not sure why all of these Gator fans are convinced he is hot garbage.

Then, against Georgia, he threw for 312 yards and ran for 118. The only shot Tennessee has of winning the East this year is with Dobbs. He isn't perfect by any means, but I would choose to go to battle with him over many other college qb's. He is a warrior, no questioning that.

It's his inconsistent play that has the fan base split at times. Now, whether that's from Debord/Jones play calling patterns or on Dobbs himself...who knows.

Considering it's been a pattern now for going on 2 plus years is concerning. Remember, Majors/Fulmer used the same approach at times when evaluating QB talent. You stay...you play.

I don't think there is any debate that JG has a tremendously high ceiling. Higher than Dobbs'. But Dobbs is actually a really good (not great) quarterback. He manages the game extremely well and is an intense competitor. He is our best chance to win s championship this year.

JMO

Edit: with JG in the wings or even a solid QB in Dormady I really wish Jobes and Debord would cut him loose and let him go Josh Dobbs on the balance of our schedule.
