It would be hilarious if I were not a fan. It is amazing to see how many fans think Hart's sole purpose, and only job was to fire Dooley and then hire Gruden. We have fans suddenly calling this the end of UT football for years to come. We have others demanding that Hart and Cheek be fired immediately. Our fan base appears to have the collective IQ of a box of hair. Pathetic.

I for one don't see yet that he is out of the running. Until the new coach is on the podium everyone is still in play. We at least now know that the lawyer has been contacted and he is even giving smoke screen talk. Until the deal is complete and signed then JG and his lawyer have to protect his current position with espn. So everyone be patient until the announcement is official on who the coach is. Times press didn't stick there neck out last night for nothing. They were scooping kns and I for one think they were dead on. Grab some popcorn and watch the show unfold!

Most of those folks are 1.) extremely young and/or immature 2.) Arent Vol fans anyways....granted there may be one or two that actually believe that and are true Vol fans but the obsurdity of thinking like that is just not logical......Actually very silly and girlish......

Agreed. I have been on and off ther Gruden train, would love to have him here but people need to understand there are other good coaches out there. Hart did the right thing and opened the check book to Gruden. Not sure why people want him fired.

Should Hart announce someone tomorrow, then there would be people who would say "He needs to take his time and not end the search so soon"

The period in this program from the time that we won the 1985 Sugar Bowl, signing our first All American Q.B. in Heath Shuler, signing our second All American Q.B. Fulmer getting coach of the year, winning the S.E.C. Championship, winning the National Championship and beating the likes of Notre Dame, Miami, Florida State, Alabama, UCLA, until the last S.E.C. championship we have become spoiled as fans. Now, almost nothing reaching our expectations.

We were so arrogant as to be glad when Chavis left and claiming that he could easily be replaced. We were claiming that he would be lucky to get a job anywhere, muchless in college football. Well, now look at the job he has done.

We took Cutcliffe for granted and now he is winning at Duke and going to a bowl game. Something we are not doing.

We were glad to send Fulmer packing and now, after 4 seasons, we are duplicating Fulmers worse season. It is now normal for us to go 5 - 7 or 6 - 6 but we only did that twice during Fulmers time as the coach.


We are spoiled and nothing will satisfy us. Should we beat Oregon by 1 point, people would complain because we didn't beat them by 20 points.

only worry is recruiting dead period is close. I hope hart has a plan that works, sec is stronger all the time. just tired of sucking!!!!!!!!!!!

but his job depends on this hire, lets hope he doesn't get fired, that will mean we still suck

Scary part is that while Gruden never was our coach at UTK, he had as many wins here over the past few weeks as Dooley did in his three years as HC!

I stated in the Gruden X thread that all the furor over Gruden was not only foolish and embarrassing but also hurting the coaching search. The Gruden lovers tried to ride me out of town on a horse, as they tried with all the people who tried to talk sense around here. Well, there you have it, folks. And if you look at the 1:00 mark, you will see that others more qualified than I felt the insanity infecting Volnation was hurting the search.

stop with these posts gosh...the only thing we are mad at is the fact that hart said no to gurden after boosters said yes...if this is true hart should have to answer to this...if not true then lets move on to the next coach!

We all know that no one can coach football to Tennessee's standards except John Gruden:rolleyes: He is the only one that can save us.:(

we need to get a coach and staff in place to start recruiting. harts wait and see method is stupid at best considering 2 weeks have passed. pretty obvious you know little about football, the only part i can see is all the people that thought gruden was coming here, it was a pipe dream. i'll wait to see who hart hires, but i have little faith in him after letting dooley coach this season. i think hart is smoking mary jane.lol

If we don't get Gruden, it isn't the end of the world or UT football. I would prefer a coach that has been successful at the college level, especially in recruiting. Knowing all the" do's and dont's" of recruiting could prevent more troubles with the NCAA. Let's give Hart the benefit of the doubt until he gives us reason to do otherwise.

The OP is probably one of those guys who will be happy when we hire some mediocre coach and will get on here and argue with anyone who calls him a mediocre coach. And then will make excuses for him after we lose to Florida and Alabama for the next 4 years and say stuff like "well, you can't expect to beat those guys."
