For future reference, the names of Petrino and Tressel represent SERIOUS NCAA BAGGAGE and we need to get as far away from these characters as we can get. We could get into trouble with the NCAA just by communicating with Tressel. He is nothing but bad news! Please don't display the ignorance of some Vol fans by continuing to recommend Tressel!

It may feel that way to some! I agree that some fans are getting carried away with this Gruden thing. I feel Gruden seen an opening to get his name back in the mix of the NFL coaching. If Gruden really cared about UT he would have a press conference and address the volnation! Now if I was a coach I would be looking at this job and the fanbase, saying great facilities and a great and passionate fan base!! I could see my staff and I really turning this program around, they have all the tools we need to go out and work on recruits. In the end my blood bleeds ORANGE and no matter the coach I will give my all for TENNESSEE, GO VOLS FOR LIFE!!!!!!

Even more embarrasing is the belief that the Gruden deal is dead. Have to agree about some of the IQ levels, but fans want a winner back at Tennessee. Gruden was the quickest way to get there. His assistants that he probably wants are as much of a draw as he is. If he gets what he wants recruits will b chomping at bit to come here.

There are plenty of good coaches out there that would love to be Head coach at Tennessee if they see the school is backing the program, academics is probable the largest problem. The SEC has some tough standards an UT academics does not provide much flexibility in the students’ classroom performance as many other conferences are much more flexible. Keep in mind that when one of the coaches gets the offer there are so many decisions to be made. Most of them are not just thinking about the money, it relocating their families, are they going to be able to get the assistant coaches they want, how far away is the team away from being competitive, does the school have what they need to recruit the quality of player the need, how good of a recruiter are they. I could go on but I sure you get the idea and Hart knows if he makes a dumb hire he most likely will get dumped also. Trust me he knows everything about the coaches he is going after and if it takes a little longer than we as fans would like that is ok with me as long as money and academics are not the reason for the coach to not take the position.

I agree with you man. Sometimes we all just get caught up in the coaching search and even recruiting. Yes JG would probably be a very good hire. But say we hire a no name coach and he goes on to win a national championship, then its Jon Gruden who? At the end of the day it doesn't matter who the coaches name is, it just matters what he accomplishes.
