Nothing to see here. I'm sure this will blow over

how bad are we thinking the punishment is? Is this the axe for a couple of their programs, mens and womens basketball? anything else?

Where are all those FF posters that kept accusing the 'AA of going after UT for the small stuff and ignoring the blue blood Carolina program?

Legitimate question: How much enforcement power does the National Collegiate Athletic Association have in issues that are predominantly academic? Seems like these were "classes" that any student was welcome to sign up for, which many did since athlete enrollment was approximately only 50% of the total enrollment for these classes.

I can't completely quantify it, but "a lot" might be considered underselling their enforcement abilities if they choose to use it.

The NCAA has no jurisdiction over the content of classes; however I think they had to take a stand in the UNC situation where the classes never met, and the grader wasn't sanctioned by the university. I didn't read the Wainwright report but it sounded like the classes were initiated when the Athletic Dept complained to the department chair.

Also the NCAA has always argued that athletes don't need to be paid because they are getting a valuable education; if that turns out to not be true, then their argument falls apart.

That's an important point as well. Gotta keep that revenue rolling in on the backs of free laborers.

I do enjoy watching LeBron make Harrison Barnes look like the punk ass ***** he is. What a clown.

Haha its LEBRON... How is he a clown? He has been very good for the Warriors

I actually don't enjoy seeing Kyrie hurt so much, but Dook fans should be use to it.. Kinda sad

He's a clown to every Duke fan because of how he handled his recruitment process with his stupid Skype stunt.

You're right about Kyrie, it sucks to see a person with such talent have it taken away by injuries. Duke fans are used to it. From Bobby Hurley, Jason Williams, Grant Hill, now Kyrie could possibly be headed that way. If you're a point guard from New Jersey and go to Duke be careful.

I have not said that, but I will believe it when I see it. I have a feeling they will punish the women's basketball or other UNC sports program fairly hard, but not men's basketball. They will probably take a couple of scholarships away from men bb.

I really don't put much stock into former Duke players' NBA careers, nor do I for Tennessee players in the NFL. But it's especially true for OADs.
