Undisciplined team

No, you're right. He is a Top 5 coach at a near blue blood institution and hoops factory. There were no extenuating circumstances or unusual influences, and he is guaranteed to live up to that contract for the foreseeable future. Thanks again for helping me out with this. Some days you just need clarity.

Sorry you struggle so to support your position...again, carry on with your shtick for all to see.

It was very smart. He had better footing to negotiate. Imagine Coach Barnes trying to negotiate his contract after going 17-16, or worse.

Exactly...and it only could have helped with recruiting (not saying it was a major factor but even small things have to come together). It is, quite frankly, shocking to the sense how many disregard basic, contextual facts like state of the program at the time we were recruiting for the current classes (let alone other facts like player development and injuries). It is also funny to me how many constantly say "CRB should be held accountable" but stop short of saying he should be fired because they know that is asinine but they despise him so they are stuck in a tough spot. Another good one is how these same posters say how he should be told "that this is not acceptable" as if he somehow he isn't and/or does not already know this...lol.

The only way you can “hold a coach accountable” who you believe has not done his job is to fire him. That’s what the Barnes haters want when they say stuff like that.

Listen folks Plasvic, Gaines, Pember, Olivier N. are not Sec calibur players. Gaines and Pember are projects at best and should have redshirted. Olivier N. has no game. Plasvic is slow and awkward and can't rebound or block shots. Barnes has really recruited poorly for 2017, 18 and mostly 19. Vescovi and James will be good players the others in their class will either leave or play very little next year.[/QUOTEFirst, Gaines and Pember couldn't redshirt this year with all the upheaval of the roster. Secondly, calling these guys "projects at best" is just arrogant and misinformed. No one knows YET what they will be, so your projection is entertaining. Thirdly, with Walker, Johnson, and Springer signed, sealed, and deliver, what time period did this occur?

Well, on your one VN post u managed to anger me. But, everybody is allowed to have their opinions, I will just have to disagree. I think if Gaines stays at UT, he will be an all-SEC level player in 3 or 4 years, may even get drafted. In fact, I have posted that I think he will be drafted. Pember has mad game, too. Would have been nice if both could have redshirted, this year and I would not mind if they did next year. Both need to hit the weight room hard this off-season. At the least, they will be really good SEC role players by their 3rd year. I have been very disappointed in ON, but u can still see he has all kinds of talent and if stays and lets Barnes coach him up, I expect him to eventually ball out. The '19 class is underrated and in a 2/3years, u will agree with me. Now the '17 and '18 classes, minus Pons have been a letdown, which may be an understatement

Exactly except they know how silly that makes them look so they dance around it and circle back to the same topics (e.g., top-5 paid coach, blah blah blah). Guess those posters became b-ball fans in the last 2 years and do not know any better.

Gaines has impressed me as a true freshman. But with everybody, you really don't know if they're already as good as they'll ever get or if there's a lot of upside yet to come. I think that Gaines might be closer to his summit than Pember or O(R)N are. JJJ will be much better once he's injury free and spends the off season working out alongside Keon and Springer. JJJ wants to set up teammates and the current roster doesn't have enough firepower to match his game. I would like to see JJJ healthy and hit the floor with Gaines this year. We could beat some people.

Not really, it’s the drive bye football fans that are so bipolar. They’ll have moved on by spring training

The drive by football fans have a REALLY hard time understanding how college basketball works at a place like Tennessee. They don't understand that we can't just go 30-5 every season. We are not and will never be a Kentucky or Duke. At Tennessee, you have to recruit and develop 3* players so you have a base for the few times you DO get 5* guys (like next season). They don't realize that next year when we have Fulkerson, Vescovi, JJJ, Plavsic, Pons and Gaines back and add in three blue chippers that the team will be vastly different than this years outfit. They also don't seem to comprehend that we lost our senior leader (Lamonte), that Bowden is put into a new position as The Man that he clearly is uncomfortable with, and that guys like Plavsic and Vescovi have to actually figure out how to play basketball in college.

Its pretty typical to be honest.

Exactly! Just to add, no one, and I mean NO ONE, expects more out of Rick Barnes, than Rick Barnes.
