Undisciplined team

I expected the Vols to be one of the top 3 teams in the SEC this season. But, I had to adjust my expectations when I realized that Turner was injured and Bowden couldn't shoot anymore. That put undue pressure on JJJ. Our guards should have been the strength of this team, but they turned out to be our biggest weakness. A healthy Turner and a 2018-19 version of Bowden (37.8% 3pt.%) and we're as good as anybody in the SEC--maybe better.
I agree, the guard play has not been what we thought, the good thing is they continue to scrap which alludes to good coaching imho. This season is what it is, however, there are some young players getting trial by fire and learning to play in this league. Think back two seasons ago, GW, JB, KA, and AS went through kind of the same thing and look what happened last season. With that, combined with the kids coming in, I am very optimistic about next season, could be historic!

Oh now, you really don’t like our coach do you? Well, hopefully he can get this team back close to your standard so you can get back on the wagon and be happy again.
I'm indifferent, but he is underachieving in most regards, and especially now relative to his salary standing compared to other basketball coaches. I enjoy being a realist. I actually think highly of Barnes in most regards and absent extenuating circumstances.

Then why are you whining about his past recruiting? He wasn't making his current salary then. You are full of shizz.
His salary placed immediate increased expectations on him. His past recruiting is an element of obtaining the raise, so his poor team this year that is poor due to bad previous recruiting is fair game for criticism.

Just as likely to be a monumental disappointment given Barnes' propensity to fail at meeting expectations.

They are a 7400 student university in an area that does not produce excessive amounts of athletic talent. They do very well in competition with universities with 25k, 35k, 40k students and those in more talent rich areas. They do not have inherent advantages.
I never suggested that they had inherent advantages. I just don't subscribe to the idea that they have inherent fiscal disadvantages, either. Not sure how student enrollment affects their financial commitment to basketball. The goalposts seem consistently on the move, here.

Mainly because IDGAF about Gonzaga and didn't bring them up in the first place. They are irrelevant to the conversation, but somehow you fixated on them.

But relevant enough to use as part of your argument? You brought up the point about their overachievement relative to their resources. I took exception to that because zero facts actually point to that being true, and you apparently "give a ****" enough to spend nearly a half dozen posts attempting to explain that comment away, and failing to do so.

Fortunately, you're one of a minority with a bullish mentality and a perpetual propensity to see the negative. I really encourage fans with your outlook and unhappiness to go follow another team.....I'm thinking you and Kentucky would be a perfect fit.

Think you are getting warm now based on his "logic" and praise for Calipari

No, I was fine with his results at his initial salary (with appropriate subsequent raises). His current salary comes with giant increases in expectations, especially due to the manner he obtained it.

Careful, your intellectual dishonesty is showing...by your own logic, you cannot complain since immediately upon becoming a top-5 paid coach CRB immediately lands a top recruiting class. Applying this same logic and based on your own statement above, you cannot hold CRB's past recruiting in his first few seasons accountable for the salary increase he received just this past offseason. But carry on with your shtick.

Sure, I can. Past results in recruiting leading to this failed season demonstrate clearly that he did not earn that level of pay.

How about GTFO
How about NO!!!!! Who the hell are you to tell anyone what to do? A forum allows for different viewpoints. Obviously, you were short changed in the gray matter area resulting in your inability to see the gray.

Does it make your keyboard muscles bigger to display such stupidity? Tough guy?

You could be absolutely right concerning next season. Barnes is the type coach who will not recruit/sign a kid in most cases that doesn’t fit. Can that be his Achilles heel, sure. So that means he’s probably not too interested in the 1and done players. If that means he may seem to underachieve at times then I’m cool with that because I know in any given game, no matter what our talent level is, with CRB on the sideline we have a chance if winning.

Ok so let’s fire Barnes and pay his buyout, go hire another mid-level coach, ( hence Donnie Knoxville), pay him less money, if high salary is an issue, and poke holes in the Admin for not going after a big name coach? You talked about enjoying being a realist, I do as well. UT BB hasn’t been relevant for a long time and every one in the country saw what Barnes did last year and there’s a feeling he’s hear to stay so the recruiting will improve, already has, and the Vols will be fun to watch! I also enjoy being positive and optimistic AND I love orange kool-aid!

Cool. I enjoy otherwise, hence the existence of message boards

What? Explain yourself. You might have a million posts on this site but I’ve been on here for just as much time. I’m an 84 Alum and don’t appreciate the sentiment. So get off my back. Haven’t you people heard of diversity? Look it up in the dictionary for some enlightenment. Have a good day.

Calm down.
