Uniform changes for 2013

Anyone know how many times UTs unis have changed, say in the last 30 year's? If I am not mistaken, we have had many changes, although subtle at times. So I am not sure I get people complaining of a change in tradition, since our tradition has been full of changes.

As long as they don't start wearing black and blasting "Enter Sandman" as the team runs out on the field I think things will be alright.

I didn't say I knew it. I said that's what I heard and been hearing for years. I've heard with my own ears former players talk about it. I've heard reports that current players talk about it. It's not a big secret.

The point I'm making is that if the players clearly want another brand (and they do) and feel like they would perform better while wearing said brand, why would our university ignore that just because Adidas treats us better? That's like eating at a restaurant with lousy food just because the service is great.

No, it's like eating at restaurant where the food is good because the service is better than somewhere the food is percieved to be great.

I'm guessing the checkerboard would not necessarily be a different colors but the same color in a pattern. Kinda like how you can mow a yard in a design but it's still all green (sorry, best analogy I could think of)

I'm expecting something like this but with checkerboards obviously and orange numbers... lol

I am pretty sure Woodsbery gets his info from Volnation. His article about this just came out and doesnt even include the part about the script...

douche

I agree that Oregon has been getting more out of their players. Look no further than the a$$-kicking they put on UT in 2010.

I can't tell you what the recruiting averages were then, nor can I tell you how to adjust for mass attrition from UT. What I can tell you is that Oregon only beat one team (USC) whom they out recruited last year, and lost to one team (Stanford) whom they didn't. That is their general rule, like most of the ncaa. Don't extrapolate out from exceptions, or make wild assumptions that because Oregon has big win numbers that jersey combinations contributed to recruiting indicative of that exceptional outcome.

Cincinnati even has 1 more letter than Tennessee but those "I's" don't take up very much space.

I think that would look alright but im not jumping out of my seat. The outline of the state sounds cool, and I think the subtle checkerboards in the orange letters will be something that looks amazing!!!

Im sold on the numbers. Aint buying another jersey til I can get my hands on one of those.

There are numerous teams that have either the name or nickname on the front of the jersey. Texas, Oklahoma (Sooners), Auburn, Notre Dame (Irish), S. Carolina, and on and on. It's not that big of a deal, although I do agree with the poster who said he'd rather have VOLS.

I get the whole "state pride" thing and am looking forward to changing it up a bit.

I'd prefer to judge what happens on the field vs. what the recruiting rankings say. So UT and Oregon are even in recruiting? Hmmm.

And that's attributed to coaching. I don't think anyone would argue Oregon had far superior coaching the past 3-4 years.

I seriously doubt the uniform they were wearing had much to do with it.

It's not so much the name itself that will look so bad, it's the fact that it will be written in script. While there are a ton of baseball and basketball teams with script names on their jerseys, I can't think of a single football team that has it.

Lol I never understand why so many people like plain. I would love to see some not-so-subtle changes to our uniform. I'm not so much hung up on the current look of our uniform. The only thing im attached to is the color orange.

If you think the uniform in your avatar is great looking, then I seriously hope you're always disappointed in our uniforms.

I'm curious as to what the script will look like as well. But I like the gist of the changes, and I'm excited about the gray jersey.

Valid concern, but original VQ story:

Sources had confirmed to VQ that the Volunteers would add their state name to the fronts of their road jerseys, again reinforcing Tennessee's status as the state's public university.

First post of this thread:

2. A script "TENNESSEE" on the front of the road jersey, above the numerals

So exactly who (other than Jake Tate) said that the "Tennessee" will be script? Where did that come from?

I would have liked this above the numbers. One of my favorites or the old 50 yd line UT overlapping. But that's probably too old school for these young bloods around here .... :)

and DeerPark. He also said something gray at Oregon and an Alt. Orange sometime later in the season. And I would bet my first born on most everything that he puts out.
