I didn't say I knew it. I said that's what I heard and been hearing for years. I've heard with my own ears former players talk about it. I've heard reports that current players talk about it. It's not a big secret.
The point I'm making is that if the players clearly want another brand (and they do) and feel like they would perform better while wearing said brand, why would our university ignore that just because Adidas treats us better? That's like eating at a restaurant with lousy food just because the service is great.
I'm guessing the checkerboard would not necessarily be a different colors but the same color in a pattern. Kinda like how you can mow a yard in a design but it's still all green (sorry, best analogy I could think of)
I agree that Oregon has been getting more out of their players. Look no further than the a$$-kicking they put on UT in 2010.
I'd prefer to judge what happens on the field vs. what the recruiting rankings say. So UT and Oregon are even in recruiting? Hmmm.
There are numerous teams that have either the name or nickname on the front of the jersey. Texas, Oklahoma (Sooners), Auburn, Notre Dame (Irish), S. Carolina, and on and on. It's not that big of a deal, although I do agree with the poster who said he'd rather have VOLS.
I get the whole "state pride" thing and am looking forward to changing it up a bit.
Lol I never understand why so many people like plain. I would love to see some not-so-subtle changes to our uniform. I'm not so much hung up on the current look of our uniform. The only thing im attached to is the color orange.
It's not so much the name itself that will look so bad, it's the fact that it will be written in script. While there are a ton of baseball and basketball teams with script names on their jerseys, I can't think of a single football team that has it.

Sources had confirmed to VQ that the Volunteers would add their state name to the fronts of their road jerseys, again reinforcing Tennessee's status as the state's public university.
2. A script "TENNESSEE" on the front of the road jersey, above the numerals

Valid concern, but original VQ story:
First post of this thread:
So exactly who (other than Jake Tate) said that the "Tennessee" will be script? Where did that come from?
