Uniform/Helmet/Shoe design thread (merged)

I've been wanting our gameday cleats to go back to black with white trim for awhile now, I just prefer the look of black cleats.

Seeing black cleats on the practice vids makes me wonder if those are just for practice and gameday cleats will remain white with orange trim or if we are returning to black cleats across the board.

Anyone know or have thoughts on this?

I'm pretty sure will wear orange and white cleats because it shows off the shoe design better than black and white. I don't think you'll ever see black cleats again

I agree with both of you... Black cleats are the only way to go. I hope we go back to black to, or at least anthracite or smokey gray. Anything but white!

Don't get me wrong, those look very nice and I love the Nike stuff.

But for me black cleats with our uni's is the way Gen. Neyland intended it to be. :shades: I've felt that way since we first wore the white cleats.

Game cleats are white with orange accents. There are gray and orange cleats to go with the Smokey Gray.

Nike prefers its teams wear white cleats with team color accents because they highlight the styles better to boost sales at retail.

Makes sense, thanks. Something else I noticed in the many photos and Vines I've studied this week .. how come Kahlil is the only one I've seen wearing white practice cleats?

His cleats have to be special made for how wide his feet are. They only come in white.

Yeah I just don't agree with that, at least not for all teams. Especially with teams like us, who have lighter/bright colors. It would seem that the accent colors would be better and show much better on a dark shoe.

Black cleat fan for sure it's what they wore when I was little and I love the orange white black cleat look. Also eric berry looked bad ass in black cleats. I just don't think it will happen again and that's sad but I guess time moves on

Question for DP:

It looks like espn is using both primary and secondary logos in their preseason stuff and on the score bugs. (For example, on the Herbies they used the Primary OSU logo and a Brutus logo. Same for Baylor, the primary BU along with a bear logo).

Does UT have a secondary logo after the re-brand or will it just be a smaller Power T? Maybe the "Vols" in the Nike font?

So...no need for a new thread...BUT...

on TV...the "Home" Uniforms looked FANTASTIC! Color was dead-on in HD...Tradition kept safe...but, the numbers (especially BIG #s are nice for identification) and the "touches" with the Cheggarboards on helmets & pants looked GREAT!

I agree. Orange was beautiful, checkerboards looked sharp. I'm happy.
