I would think that would tough to blend with the helmet, but it may look better than I think. And that beings up changing the whole changing the helmet argument again lol.

I was all for the grey until I saw the mock up in the pics above. Now I realize that unless we were to also change the helmet it doesn't really look right or add anything to our scheme.
I've argued for the alternate for some time but now that I see it...the random ideas anyway...it does nothing for me. I do like the rendering with the grey helmet and orange pants but for some reason I thought we had good info that the helmets would not change therefore having a helmet one color, jersey a different color and pants yet another color looks terribly thrown together and out of sync...to me.

I get your point, which is why I was leaning toward the white pants to match the helmet...but I'm no fashion expert, unless the staff wants to call me lol.

Me and you both. I have never understood the hatred of the black unis. When the Vols came running through the T in them, for the first time since the band started wearing black, they actually matched. Now I believe the predominate color should and always should be Tennessee orange. Any black trim between the orange and the white should be as thin as possible, but just enough to make them contrast.

I get many folks who didn't graduate from high schools like Coalfield, Greenback, Pigeon Forge, Lenoir City and Powell do not like black with their orange, Since I got my diploma from one of the above, I can say a few of us are kind of used to it.

This grey idea I just don't get. I just looks filthy. However, if there are people dumb enough to want to buy it, why the heck not? In today's economy, UT merchandising needs all the money it can get. Forget fashion statements, forget tradition. If people will buy it, let em wear it. It may be ugly, but we are very used to that.

This would look even better IMO with the black outline around the numbers and then a thin black stripe outside of the stripes on the legs of the pants and around all the orange on the helmet!! Power T included! JMO

I dig the gray. It reminds me of Confederate uniforms. I'd remove the stripes and add aT to pants. Go VOLS!

VQ posted a description of some of the changes to the regular uniforms after Butch showed them to recruits over the weekend.

Putting the state of Tennessee above the player names is something that's been needed for awhile. There will be a pattern in the road numbers, but it won't be noticeable except up close, much like the pattern on the shoulders of last year's basketball jersey.

Look for something light gray at Oregon and an alternate orange with a subtle pattern for a home game later in the season.

The white pants look better with the grey. I would like to see the white outline around the numbers with the white pants. The white Adidas logo is nice touch too.

Not necessarily against Oregon. That's apparantly up in the air now. They'll be worn at some point. The other discussed alt is dead.

They've sold light gray polos, jackets, and other "sideline" gear for a couple of years now, that's nothing newsworthy.

I just don't like either one of those color schemes. Sorry but to me, grey is a nasty ass drab color that does not fit into our color scheme AT ALL! I would rather them use black than grey (and I'm not a fan of the black either).

I cannot understand why to some, orange and white just isn't good enough anymore. You can do all kinds of things to change up the uniforms without having to throw in some random 3rd color (if you even consider grey a color).
