United Airlines New Seating Chart

Anyone arguing for the airline and saying this guy deserved to be assaulted and dragged off the plane should be beaten themselves. If you're trolling that's one thing, but if you truly believe the airline was right then you're an idiot.

Basically United Airlines drew the short straw here. I'm guessing that if the same situation had occurred on American, Delta, SW, etc., Dr. Dao would have had the same reaction and would have needed to be forcibly brought off the plane. Now would the actions of the Police be different because the officers wouldve been different? Probably. The point is no employee of United ever touched Dr. Dao and the other 3 passengers that were asked to leave did so without causing a scene. Those 3 people get vouchers and now Dr. Dao gets treated like a hero and a 7 figure settlement because he acted like a 3 year old. The only mistake United made was overbooking the flight and having the dumb luck to have a certifiable Asian guy as one of the random people to ask off the flight. Cue the racism, cue the outrage, cue the boycott, cue for the heads to roll, its all a bunch of bull****.

Saying the flight was overbooked is a bunch of bull****.

Why couldn't the airline employees stay in the crew rest area for the flight instead of removing a paying customer?

Because they were needed for a flight in Louisville and 150 people would be out of luck bc this guy, who previously agreed to being bumped, wouldn't get out of the plane. It doesn't matter if boarding is over or not or when that happens. The airline can boot you whenever they want and it's completely legal and agreed to whether you like it or not. He held up the plane for 45 mins raining hell. He got what he deserved.

Once again, united did nothing wrong. It was the Chicago police that removed him from the plane. Guess what, if three police show up and say you are getting off this plane or we are removing you.....you get off the plane.

Big brother is watching. We'll see how this shakes out with United and the city of Chicago's checkbooks.

Sure they did something wrong. They dragged a paying customer off an airplane that had a seat to put their own people on the plane. Sure, sheep like you and me would probably take our lumps and get off the plane, but this guy didn't.
United didn't plan their crew movements well enough and the result was a complete disaster PR wise. From the CEO's response downward was a total disaster.
There was a simple solution to this problem and it took this guy getting beat up for the airlines to see it. Keep upping the offer until someone agrees to get off of the plane. Simple, problem solved.

This is what amazes me. I've seen it done several times and the whole process takes under 30 min.

United just sux!! I was on a flight from Detroit to Norita Japan. Plane boarded and we sat in silence for almost an hour. I got off the plane....outside the jetway I asked the gate agent what was the problem. He said the pilot the previous night had reported some maintenance issues with the plane. None of them had been fixed so the next pilot refused to fly.
The flight was cancelled an hour later.

Lol at people acting like this guy is some kind of martyr among the cowardly sheep on the plane.

He's a butthole who thought he was more important than he was and got what was coming.

You're right, he was an *******. But he spoke for a large amount of people when he bucked up against United and their ways.
Sometimes you don't have to do it right, you just have to do it.
All airlines are going to change how they treat over booking because of this one incident and we're all going to benefit from it.

What United did was a distinct breach of their contract. What the cops did was beat the crap out of a private citizen. You're a brown-stained butthole.

He wasn't standing up for anyone. He was acting like an entitled brat. This isn't gonna change anything for the better. If anything happens of significance, the cost will go up.

Wrong, that was an extension of the Chicago police that removed him. Not united. I've never once said that United was all clean here but he was clearly wrong

And people will hold up planes for hours wanting the same thing. Money. It will be a disaster

Bump.

He seems to have missed it.

I would have asked if anyone else could take it. He already had taken the deal once reportedly and that's why he was selected. Once they told me I had to leave the plane I would leave

Which brings me to another point. Why not outrage at all those people watching g this poor guy have such a struggle and all they wanted to do was film it? Why not one of them step up and take the deal?

United threw a paying customer off a plane because they are greedy sons of *****es...they and every other airline that does this are bastards. You must be a greedy bastard too if you don't see the wrong in that.

They probably started with those with status with United and worked the way down or just targeted Asians... Not sure
