Up Tempo or Slow it Down??

I agree but in two of those games you mentioned(memphis isn't included here since we are talking before that game) we played fantanstic defense. Also we play Wichitah state in the timeframe discussed.

Oh yeah frogot about Wichita state. But still I think our defense wasn't quite as good as "the stats" might suggest. Watching them you can really tell they are switching screens and communicating with each other alot better. But I do see your arguement as well.

Admittedly I thought we were higher than the 34th that teamrankings had our defensive efficiency on 1/4.

What's sad?? You refusing to admit you were wrong about defensive efficiency before the memphis game?

You apparently were too busy thumping your chest you missed this post...

I can shout out random rankings too...i remember the stats being discussed from KenPom (much more proven than whatever you're using). If it turns out KenPom says we were one of the best defensive efficiency teams in the SEC at the time of the Memphis game I'll gladly say I was wrong.

Regardless, the original point, martins style hasn't changed, the players are finally doing what he has wanted and understanding it.

For your sake I hope Tennessee is favored by 3...

I have guessed 3 but have said I am willing to bet a large sum we are a favored which so far nobody has agreed with me that we will be favored.

Do we play to our strength that we found during this late season run by playing a fast tempo game that Missouri likes to play or do we try to take them out of their game??

IMO I want us to play as if we are the better team and play to our strengths. At home we ARE the better team and I hope our gameplan doesn't give too much credit to them.

Don't know that pace of play or anything else matters much except one thing - its a cliche but the game will go the way Golden does. All the attention has been on Jordan McRea but Golden is still they key. Case in point JM gets 35 at Athens and we lose. He has a down game and we win on the Plains. Golden struggled against the Bulldogs guards; don't know enough about Mizzou to know if they have a big quick front court but if so that could be the difference.

Holding teams to low point totals doesn't always work, see our games against Georgetown and UVA. That's where total defensive efficiency comes into play, some of your good defensive teams give up 65ppg but it's because of higher possesions.

Too many people, including myself for awhile, see low point total and think great D...that's not always the case.

Its not always the case when you offense cant score more than 35 points. lol

When our offense is clickin, that stingy defense(efficient or not) is going to win us ball games. IMO

Missouri only won 2 road games and the Kentucky line Missouri was a 2.5 dog. I think we will be right on same number

I see your logic but I think you are forgetting Ky is in 2nd place or was at the time and we are in 6th. And let's face it, it is Ky so it doesn't matter how much they suck they will still be treated as a top 10 team. Mizzou is ranked and we are not and Mizzou is ahead of us in the conference so I really don't expect us to be favored.

:hi:

There is not anything you can bet on- ie, "a real line"- until later this evening

Am on record saying M-1/138

Can't wait for that Missouri line to come out...saw one a bit ago that has it even...I'll wait for the rest though to come out before I post every single one.

Mizzou has been not so good on the road, they have already made the NCAAT, they have had their senior day, Vols are hot, at home, playing for their NCAA lives, so yeah I think its a safe bet Vols are low single digit favs. 1.5-2.5 sounds about right.

It was 2nd game after the Noel injury and the first after we beat the hell out of them. Far from confidence in the cats With vegas at that time

Misery needs company!! Lol someone joins my side!

Bto

Going to be away from site until later tonight. When you post KPom having us at 199 in defensive efficiency BEFORE the memphis game I will admit I was wrong as I certainly think that site holds more water than teamrankings.

Also when the line comes out if it is a pick or we are a dog I will be wrong again.

Until tonight!
