Hmmm. I see the reasoning, but. Dickey had two years of leverage. Galanie did not.JMO but I think everyone conceding Galanie at this point are over reacting. I just see him going in the 13th very different than the 11th. Over night last night the higher profile guys (Dickey) we making deals…. If they were agreed upon they went in the 11th Rd. I just don’t think it’s a done deal with Galanie like I do Dickey
With the shrinking of minor league clubs and the living conditions, I would think staying in school with a training table, nice living quarters and no 8 hour bus rides would make it a tough out versus playing Rookie League and Short A ball. Gotta go to class of course.
Now that argument I think is much more valid than the money argument. With some exceptions, quality of life over the next year is much better at UT. A lot of these guys are paying tuition though, so I'm sure the choice is tough. Low-A baseball sounds miserable honestly.
Getting Jared Dickey for $150k just doesn't seem right.
Another year of school could make him a lot of money.
Many people get hung up on how a player does in college. Yes, it is important for sure. 100%. However, scouts also look for ceiling, potential, and whether a player’s skills translate to the pro level. Not only that, will the player be able to develop, likely avoid injury based on body type, mechanics, etc and have longevity in a pro career. It’s a science, so to speak. Some of our scouts even swear by eye and hair color as an indication of potential longevity and success.Wow. Hope he comes back.
Alex Perry, JUCO SS undrafted, Bradke Lohry, JUCO 2B undrafted, and Dean Curley, Ariel Antigua, Blake Grimmer, Cole Eaton, Bryson Thacker, Matthew Dallas, Derek Schaefer….all high schoolers who were thought to be potential draft losses, undrafted.
This should be an outstanding class of newcomers for Tennessee in 2024.

Maybe not. I will say I haven't seen many words about Villeneuve either. I know JUCOs are hit or miss, but that dude is a walking bomb.
