(Updated 8/2/23) 2023 MLB Draft and Roster Management Discussion Thread

Are you saying we did not overrecruit this year? Just asking for a friend.
Ha. We definitely didn’t over recruit contrary to what some NegaVols have implied. I might have miscounted the returnees as it could be 22 returnees but that would still only be 37 roster spots with 40 total available for 24 season. Id say CTV and staff are managing the roster perfectly. 🍊😃👍👊😀🍊👍

22 returnees plus 31 newbies…

That’s 53

It's been slow on here the past week. Got to stir something up. The problem is I have blocked the Nega's so I only see ya'll's replies to them not their posts so you guys look even sillier replying to something that doesn't exist in my posts.

It’s weird how the number of players in these recruiting classes are all about the same as Tennessee, but Tennessee is the only team in America that over-recruits. Defies logic.

Vanderbilt has 2 fewer. aTm has one more. Texas has 2 fewer. UNC has 1 fewer. State has the same...

Plenty of schools are signing in the same range as Tennessee. Are they over-signing?

Arkansas is the school you want to use if you want to convince yourself this is normal but here is the cold hard facts using the schools you brought up…

The last 4 years… Info is from the site you used. Perfect game

Number of commits:

Vols 76
Vandy 63
Unc 59
A/m 70
Msu 68
Texas 47

The Vols are always going to have this high of a number. Mark it down. Just look at the 24/25/26 classes

So those other schools didn’t cut anybody? They still signed way more players than they have roster room for, which is the point. And that doesn’t include incoming portal guys. Assuming kids can do math, they know that everyone won’t make the team.

To no one in particular. College sports has changed. I think that’s a good thing, and I’m willing to have that debate. One way or another it was bound to change…it’s simple.

The money.

GBO!!!

It's taking away the two things I like best about college sports.
1) Playing for the name on the front of the jersey, not the name on the back.
2) Traditions.

How soon will uniforms look like NASCAR’s with the names of NIL sponsors all over them along with their Venmo’s?

When this round of new alignment started I hoped the SEC would stand as is. So far so good. The footprint with the addition of Texas and Oklahoma ain’t that different from adding Texas A&M, and having that rivalry will be a good addition I guess. However, I do feel for the kids in non football sports who have to make those trips, so I’m glad the SEC hasn’t gotten involved in the PAC 10 business.

Yep, and all the disasters are being faced by PAC-10 schools, but did anybody really care about that conference anyways, including the people in their own states? It seems that was the problem that led to their demise.
