Career-wise, it's a downgrade. Forget about Miami being a nice place to live. Being a DC for an SEC team is viewed as a "higher position" than being a DC for an ACC team. He's much less likely to get a HC position at Miami. If it were 2002, maybe, but at this point, the SEC and B1G are viewed as the 'important leagues' and the ACC is viewed as a slight step above a mid-major.If the money were the same and I had a decent head coach (Miami does), I would live in Coconut Grove or Coral Gables over Knoxville….tomorrow. Maybe Banks wouldn’t see it as a step down??
I think there’s a difference between calling for his head and being apathetic. His D gave up the game winning drive to Arkansas backup QB and had zero sacks TOTAL against Georgia and OSU. His D seems a lot more fearsome when aided by Neyland crowd noise. Not so scary on the road. After all the man has done here, this toxic fan base is still calling for his head.
I'd leave too, if I were him.
Christobal is maybe the dumbest head coach in the country He was on hot seat before Cam Ward saved his ass this year. Banks might leave for spite (White didn’t renew him last year) but going to a more secure program? Nothing wrong with a small town. I would prefer Boone or Fairhope Alabama over Miami. I just happen to prefer Miami over Knoxville. Definitely don’t agree that Cristobal is the dumbest. I’ll have to be convinced that it’s not Kelly.Christobal is maybe the dumbest head coach in the country He was on hot seat before Cam Ward saved his ass this year. Coaches look at living areas different that you or I would. Most coaches prefer smaller towns to raise their families.
