For me it has been fun watching the unraveling of Meyer this year. He comes into the league and is immediately the golden boy. He has this high flying offense and the top recruit in the nation (Tebow). He wins big his 1st year and is immediately the big guy in the SEC. Life is good.
Then Bama hires Saban; a guy with a BCSC and NFL HC experience on his resume. Soon his position as top dog is challenged.
Then UT hires Kiffin; a guy with BCSC experience at USC and NFL HC experience. Kiffin immediately sets his sights on the big dog calling him out in his first press conference (at the request of MH).
Kiffin then steals a prized recruit right out from under his nose.
Kiffin in an attempt to fire up boosters says Urban broke the rules. No worries; Foley to the rescue. But it grates on him.
It grates on him so much that he has motivational signs created and posted around the UF locker room. He prepares his team to crush the young arrogant pup. The sports world itself prepares for the pup to receive a beat down at the hands of Meyer. Only it doesnt happen. Kiffin has a well coached and well prepared team that garners respect of the sporting world at the expense of Meyer.
Questionable calls from referees provide an excuse for Kiffin to take another swipe at Meyer. No worries, Slive to the rescue. But it is still there like an annoying thorn.
His team continues to win but despite the record he knows there are problems and he sees Saban waiting for him in Atlanta.
Then the Spikes incident happens. He delivers a light penalty. Who cares; he is the big dog, he is Meyer. His buddy Slive rides in to condone the coachs decision. But wait. There is outrage. The golden boy is receiving heat from the sporting world and there is nothing Foley or Slive can do to help.
Meyer cracks, but
but
their guy did something bad too and unwittingly steps into the trap Slive set for Kiffin.
It has been a beautiful thing to watch. The big dog is being bounced from his perch.
