Urban challenging Slive?

Slive said any further puplic comments about officiating would get fines and suspensions. None were handed out to Meyer just days after his announcement. Spin it any way you want but this smells

Exactly.

So, Mr. 2 tiny Bits. Lawerence Wright, and the rest of you Gator trolls... you still claim that there isn't a double standard?

Tebow has been average.. accounts for almost all your offense.. and you are still ranked number 1. What does that tell you about the REST of your team? It should speak volumes. It's called one dimensional. You will hear that a lot next year.

But really...tell us all again why we care what you think?

I can't tell you why you care what I think, but I do appreciate you quoting the majority of my posts. I guess based on that it's obvious you do care what I think, but your reasons are your own.

I won't speculate.

answer the question troll.

Our defense has as much if nto more to say about our W-L record, especially this year. Tebow has been average at best this season.
But you guys will have your own QB issues next season when Stephens takes over. John Brantley will be just fine as our QB in '10 and '11.....followed by Trey Burton in '12 and '13.

I'm not sold on Taylor Bray at all after Stephens leaves.

Thoughts:
1. Tebow...still gives the gators major "MoJo" even when his numbers are not that impressive. If you think that defense can carry the gators solely...just refer back to the Vols from the 2008 season....
2. CLK has worked miracles in a short time with J.C...wonder what he can accomplish given more time with Stephens and Bray....and don't count out the possibilitiy of another signee.

Nice try... you fail troll. Urbie needs his hanky, don't you need to take it to him?

NCAAF Blog: Dr. Saturday - Yahoo! Sports Blogs

Evidently Urban Meyer can get away with questioning the officials, but no one else can. I live in Houston, where today on a sports talk show, the talking head made the point that while no one coach should ever question the integrety of officials, the fact that Urban Meyer (the "Dr. of Discipline", the talking head scornfully said after reminding his audience about the two dozen arrests or so) questioned a call and nothing (so far) has been done makes the whole SEC bit with the referees seem ridiculous. The point of the article above is that the SEC had no business opening this can of worms in the first place.

Combine this with the Brandon Stevens incident, Mike Slive, in an apparent attempt to protect his "cash cows", is quickly losing whatever credibility he had, if he had any the first place. In addition, people all over the country are now focusing on this situation rather than the games itelf. In the process, the whole conference is beginning to look ridiculous.

Congratulations, Mike Slive. You must be proud.

Meyer didn't come out and accuse the refs of making calls to help the top teams win and blatantly attack the refs for how bad they were.

All Meyer did was say that the late hit on Tebow should have been a penalty and that he sent the tape to the SEC. This is a big difference from what Kiffin did after the Alabama game.

Good read. It's getting a ton of attention now and gaining momentum every hour it seems. Slimey Slive better back up his mouth or its gonna get very very ugly.

He jumps all over Kiffin for it, but basically sweeps this under the rug...

Favoritism much? Or is it a man crush?

this does not matter at all...it makes no difference what the content of his complaint was because slive said that "any public criticism of the officials will be met with fines or suspension." meyer's comments are clearly critical of the officials yet slive has done nothing.

Meyer and Saban are the SEC cash cows right now---Slive must worship at their feet.

So he accused them of missing a call... Something should have been done but of course it was swept under the rug to protect the investment.

When you say that the penalty happened right in front of the referees and they did not call it you are criticizing them. I like how he said he has the "utmost respect" or something along those lines and thinks he can get away with it, and most likely will.

Saying they should have made the call because it happened right in front of them is criticism.:eek:k:

Exactly...

and nothing will be done, what Slive really said was:

"any public criticism (unless it's you Urbie ole buddy) of the officials will be met with fines or suspension."

You have to read the fine print boys..

True, but it is more along the lines of what Petrino and Mullen said and they received warnings.

It doesn't matter how harsh Meyer's criticism was. It was the fact that he blatantly did it after the Commish implicitly told all SEC coaches that he was through with reprimands and would move straight to fines or suspensions for ANY coach who publicly criticized the offficials.

Urban made his criticisms public and Mike proved either A)to be in favor of the Gators like it seems or B) just a toothless tiger of a commisioner. Something, tells me that if Kiffin had made that criticism that he would be fined AND suspended. Does that not sound biased to you?

Also, Meyer has already done this. He crtiticized Kiffin multiple times after Slive's decree at SEC Media Days. Every time Slive reprimands Kiffin for making Urban look bad and creates a "rule" directed at him, Urban blatantly breaks the rule to show Kiffin that he has Slive's backing.

The problem is that this is becoming apparent to the media outside of the SEC and they also see that it is affecting other teams than UT. Meyer and Slive are certainly crafty but they are also very obvious and stupid.
