Over the past two years Meyer has achieved great success...but was it lucky?

let's take a look at two years ago.

Tenn game - our punter decides to fake a punt...results in a FG for fla...not to mention that blocked FG...

Vandy game - the most bullsh*t celebration penalty i have ever seen in my life, stopping vandy's dream of going for two and taking a win at the swamp.

Iowa - Iowa really recovered an onside kick late in the game, but the refs said Iowa was offsides (which later turned out to be false)

last year:

Tenn game - cant really call it lucky, was a good comeback...but in the end they took a one pont victory

LSU game - LSU fumbles at the FLA one yard line to lose a TD and the game

South Carolina - i think everyone knows how lucky urban was on this one so we dont need to go into detail...

Arkansad - that muffed punt by Arkansas (when the returneer went all the way back to his own 5 to recieve the punt and the fumbles it)

What I'm trying to say is: Was Urban lucky these past two years or is he going to achieve success like these past two years in the future?

He's won everywhere he's been. It isn't luck.

No.. I'm pretty sure it's luck... there's no doubt he is a very good coach but you have to catch some breaks and get lucky to win a national championship... I mean just look at our season when we won it...

Florida has had more breaks than any team I've seen over the past two season.. I don't expect Urban Meyer to win another N.C. but if he does he will have suprised me and proved me wrong. If he does manage to win a N.C. I expect it to be from just having a mass amount of talent you just can't lose if your a half-decent coach.

It seemed like last year teams didn't want to beat Florida or something and just handed them the game, us being one of those teams.

Besides, he hasn't used his "real" offense the past two years but has gone to a more traditional one with a few of his gimics thrown in.. I'm still uncertain that using his tricky plays nearly every down will work in the SEC.. they worked some the past two years because they didn't use them a whole lot.

Florida was very fortunate last year. They forced a lot of turnovers, they surely got some calls, they made some unbelievable special teams plays. The SC game is a good example, but remember that the coaches picked up on the opportunity there, so while they got some breaks, they coached and planned to take advantage of those breaks.

The way things fell for Florida to get into the NC game -- now that was pure luck. But its part of it and USC didn't get it done. Not Florida's fault that UCLA beat USC. But we'll take it every day if that's what it takes.

Tennessee: Florida is better, just looked at the game stats. I feel like if the game was played at Gainesville, we would lose badly.

LSU: That was a close one. I, as well as a lot of others, thought LSU should get this one. LSU fumbled the ball at 1-yard line. Then LSU muffed the punt close to their end zone, and was recovered by Florida. They killed themselves in the first half .Finally Tebow made the play. I didn't watch the second half but I heard Florida played even better.

South Carolina: I can't explain this one. We all saw how desperate Meyer was before the kick.

Arkansas: This muffed punt by Arkansas is not like the one in LSU game. Do you happen to notice how Florida executed the punt? Those 5 or 6 Florida players rushing right to the ball scared the crap out of the punt returner. I bet he had never seen that before. IMO, he instinctively tried to get to the ball. This is a good special team play.

First, Florida is good, so they win NC, they make a lot of plays, but definitely with the aid of luck.

Tennessee 98.....luck?

I would be lying if I said I had a vivid picture of the season in my mind, but the Arkansas game involved luck, the missed UF field goal was pretty good fortune, and I have no memory of this, but I heard we got some bad pass int calls against Cuse.

I don't see how Florida was better in the Tennessee game.. sure we had -11 yards rushing but they didn't do much better on offense until their comeback. The only thing they did better was take a "blow" to the helmet on an INT return for a TD.

Could we possibly put all future Urban Meyer threads in the "Sports Forum" since they have zero to do with UT sports? It's getting a little out of hand

Don't give me that. They should have had 2 return TD's. I believe they said Britton' slide tackle wasn't allowed, and the other "block in the back" call was crap. The int call never would have happened.

What it says. That call you brought up should have never happened because we would have been on offense.

sorry drawing a blank... was at that game and was too pumped up then sadly disappointed in the end to really remember most it... but that one call has haunted me since :p

Are you talking about their 80 or so yard kick return for a TD that was called back due to like 2-3 illegal things on the play? Or something that happened to us where we got the short end of the stick?

i thought we were very fortunate when they got a flag on that punt return

I didn't think so but who knows... the one they did call on that play was questionable... but then again I could've sworn I saw another 1 that was really blatant that was away from the play they didn't call.

It almost seemed like our players gave up near the end of the play anticipating a flag... or they just lost all their fundamentals.
