Urban Meyer Only suspended 3 games

Giving him a suspension makes him look like he was in the wrong but OSU is willing to put up with it versus doing nothing it looks like everything Meyer did was right & proper

I still don’t see how a suspension hurts OSU worse than firing him. Just suspending him makes it look like they don’t care about the domestic abuse situation that he knew about.

Same O Same O...….Trustees protecting their school. The President wanted his butt fired...……...the only one with integrity in the room. It is...…….what it is.
Big Money and WINNING at all costs. The "worthless" nuts of the world shud be embarrassed today. But instead are celebrating.

'for lying' to the NCAA. different standard when just lying to the press or general public.

still doesn't make it right. shouldn't be acceptable on many levels.

another end of times precursor here...

What Myer did was not anything to do with the NCAA. Of course no lying involved to them. Let me let you peak under the curtain one mo time. EVERY COACH IN EVERY SPORT AND EVERY AD LIE AT SOME POINT TO THE NCAA. COULD BE A BIG THING OR A LITTLE THING. THE AD IS SUPPOSED TO, LIKE DICKEY DID, PROTECT HIS COACHES FROM GETTING INTO TROUBLE WHILE FRACTURING A RULE OR TWO. HAMILTON WAS OUT TO GET PEARL FOR REASONS I HAVE STATED IN THE PAST. PLUS HE WAS INCOMPETENT. Get off the normal life moral high horse. Of course lying is not a good thing. However, the NCAA has created an environment where it is standard operating procedure when dealing with them. That is the way it is.

Now when UT went before the NCAA because of Lane and they took Dooley to Indy, the investigators always stopped short of asking any damaging questions by design. Had Lane still been here they would have BBQ-ed Tennessee. But it was a Dooley sitting there and they spared Tennessee. You can thank Dooley for keeping Tennessee from an NCAA beating and the VFL program.

You’re missing the point. It’s not about lying, it’s the fact that Meyer protected a scumbag that habitually beat the crap out of his wife.

Investigators learned that Meyer "has sometimes had significant memory issues in other situations where he had prior extensive knowledge of events. He has also periodically taken medicine that can negatively impair his memory, concentration and focused." They accepted that as a legitimate reason for him not remembering past events, such as the details of the 2015 incident.

I DON'T WANT TO BE THAT GUY WHO SAYS "I TOLD YOU SO" BUT I TOLD YOU SO!

get the white wash ready! they will be spreading it on thick! Urban will be right back in the saddle in ten days--you can bet on it! he wins games--he's got nothing to worry about!

SIAP but you're telling me the guy who is probably the highest paid public official in the state of Ohio and the face of a major university has memory issues which led to his inaction? It's convenient these lapses in memory don't occur on the football field. No surprise by the mental gymnastics by tOSU over this decision considering Urban is a winner. Glad this university doesn't represent me at least.

If this was Tennessee ESPN would have been all over the news saying he should be fired. Pearl lied about a b-bque and he was berated to no end. Now all the sudden these folks make excuses, Meyer has a systematic history of shady dealings but they don't care. He is nothing but a big phony, I would not trust him as far as I could throw him. He may be a good football coach, but please the meyer lovers in the media need to quit with the Urban is a good honorable man crap. It is nothing but a big fat non-truth. GBO!!!!!

Valid point and I agree. I'm just pointing out the discrepancy in punishments for two scenarios that are on opposite sides of the ethical/legal spectrum.

When you get suspended that usually means your guilty and in the know.
Urban knew what was going on with this Smith while at Florida besides other things that Urban let go on at FL.
Then he brings this coach with him to OSU, he knew before and he knows now, what a liar and a dirtbag...He should have been fired!!!!!!

Proves he was in the wrong and as long as Myer is Coach it will be a constant reminder of OS wanting wins more than doing what's right.

Firing him would prove he is in the wrong. Suspending him just shows osu thought he was neglectful in keeping up with his staff. I doubt it will be a constant reminder too, people will forget about this crap after those 3 games. And it’s awful funny how they came to 3 games, they weren’t willing to give him more because of the conference schedule which is BS.

This suspension is all PR related. And if the memory issue is really true, he shouldn't have faced any repercussions. He has a legitimate and diagnosed medical condition that caused this and should sue OSU under the Americans with Disabilities Act

So, Ohio State investigated Ohio State and decided not to dismantle and ruin Ohio State's football program.

Surprise!

The way I heard it went down was the board called him in to drop the hammer. About the time they were getting to the tough part, Urb leaps up and starts hollerin to somebody named Elizabeth about the "big one" and the board caved.

The face of BSPN college football, Herbstreit, so far has said less about this suspension on Twitter than he did about Gaulden.....

Just proves you can tell lies and ignore terrible things that are going on right under your nose and still keep your job. If he hadn't been winning at Football he would've been gone. Being able to win is the ultimate in a lot of places in country damn what we will put up with to keep it going.

Maybe Urb and Smith are lovers. Ever think of that? Why else would Urb "protect" such a scumbag?

Who's Smith using the sex toys on? You know... the ones he bought with OSU credit cards and had delivered to the football complex.

Nowhere near an impartial investigation, I agree, but firing Urban wouldn't dismantle and ruin their football program. This season in particular might not meet expectations if they fired him, but the program is loaded and they'd be in a position to hire some top candidate once this season was over.

Remember they fired Tressel after an 11-2 season and Sugar Bowl victory, slogged through one year with interim Luke Fickell, then hired Urban. In the grand scheme of things firing Tressel, who went 94-22 overall, won a national title, and had the program humming when he was fired, wasn't a big deal. Ohio St is one of a handful of programs equipped to withstand something like that. Urban really isn't bigger than the program, although he is treated like he is.
