I still don’t see how a suspension hurts OSU worse than firing him. Just suspending him makes it look like they don’t care about the domestic abuse situation that he knew about.
I'm no lawyer, but I don't think they'd need any sort of legal proof to fire/suspend him under a morals clause in the contract. If, in the judgment of the University, Urban did something to harm the reputation of the University they can fire him. That's a pretty subjective thing. I suppose Urban could always sue in return, but if it is a subjective judgment call on the part of the University to hire him, he doesn't have a case. That was a slippery slope as well. You fire a guy for "alleged" domestic abuse issues. Maybe he did. But, he was never charged in any instance. Firing him for saying he violated the conduct code of his contract without "legal proof" would have resulted in a lawsuit. Probably would have been a better PR stance for the university and Myer to go that route. But, they would have paid for it.

After Smith's tirade today I expect him to show up in treatment somewhere. If not this will get really ugly, if it isn't already.
I'm curious to know under what circumstances the Medical Director sent Zach to eval/treatment as to whether it was a formal job related instance. Lots of organizations policies and procedures have heavy consequences for that. Job usually doesn't recommend an eval and then you say "Nah, don't think so" w/out repercussions.
