I don't disagree, but do you think other big football schools are any different? Do you think Alabama (not picking on them, just an example) would have done anything differently in the identical situation? Would Tennessee have done anything differently? Would Texas have done anything differently? This win at all costs mentality is a pattern. We've seen it at Penn State, Ohio State, Baylor, etc.

The only thing I can think of that might have happened differently is that the coach in question might have showed some remorse, at least publicly, in the press conference. And that's just because Urban is who he is.

No, sadly I don't think any of the top programs, Tennessee included would've done anything differently. It's a sad commentary on society.

Urban is going to go down as one of the best college football coaches of all time (as far as pure performance on the field). He risked his entire career and reputation to defend a dime-a-dozen, replacement-level wide receivers coach. I get the family loyalty and understand why he'd give him the benefit of the doubt to a certain extent, but not the level that he did.

It seems entirely possible Smith has some type of dirt on Urban; however, maybe it is something else because Urban doesn't seem like the type of guy who cares how he is perceived.

I graduated from Tennessee in 2006, and I have lived in Columbus since 2010. Best I can tell, Earle Bruce was sort of like OSU's Johnny Majors (not an exact comparison, but semi-close). Now imagine Fulmer as head coach protects Johnny's screw-up grandson at all costs and it backfires.

2) He has a bad memory, but he did remember he needed to delete text messages from over a year ago when the McMurphy story broke. In fact, that's the very first thing he thought of when the story broke.

Not 100%, but do not believe memory-loss is a federally protected disability. Again, could be wrong, but do not believe it is protected.

I personally think UT would have done it differently, at least over the last decade or so. I don’t say this as a fan, but as an objective observer of a program that didn’t care about winning. Plus, it isn’t like we’ve had a coach that we really felt the need to protect. If Urban was a 6 win coach he would have been thrown to the street 2 weeks ago.

Yeah this is all McMurphy and Finebaum’s fault. It couldn’t be that he’s a domestic abuser and it has been proven and admitted by him. Everyone else involved is at fault, but there is only one common denominator. Zach Smith

I hope he doesn’t escalate this situation and something tragic happens. He seems to have completely gone off the deep end. This has all the feeling of a recorded 911 call that will be replayed over and over.
