Urban still stressed out

Meyer initiated the whole exchange and was trying to bully the reporter. What did you expect him just to take it? I would have told him to bring it on once his doctor medically cleared his aching heart.

How did he egg him on? He was replying to a ranting Meyer. Not being sarcastic (this time) just didn't see the egging on part.

Are you kidding? Standing up for yourself while being yelled at for doing nothing wrong is just not right!

"You'll be out of practice. ... you understand that? ... if you do that again," Meyer said as he pointed at Fowler. "I told you (the media) five years ago: Don't mess with our players. Don't do it. You did it.
"You do it one more time and the Orlando Sentinel's not welcome here ever again. Is that clear? It's yes or no."

A stunned Fowler replied: "Urban, come on. Don't make any threats. That's fine. I'll play by the rules. ... I'll play by the rules, but all I was doing is quoting the guy. I don't think I was the only one."

Meyer quickly fired back: "You're a bad guy, man. You're a bad guy."

As Meyer started to walk away, Fowler said, "Thanks, Urban. I appreciate that."

Meyer turned around and then pointed at Fowler, and said: "If it was my son, we'd be going at it right now."

"Thanks, Urban, I appreciate that." You don't think that was a wee bit sarcastic?

Nothing like recasting your rival's words to suit your straw man, is there droski?

You might as well have said that Meyer said that he is the Emperor.

Oh, wait, just engaged in the same fundamental childish ploy you used.

Sarcastically saying "thanks, I appreciate that" when someone yells at and calls you a bad guy is egging them on? If Urban takes offense to that then he's a bigger baby than I originally thought.

So did you just expect the innocent dude to just stand there and say nothing but "yes sir"???

He felt that he didn't do anything wrong and he was trying to express that. By saying "yes, sir" to everything that D-bag said, he would admit that he did something wrong.

It's not like he was saying "I don't care what you say" or something to that effect.

Heck, if you're going to say someone was provoking another, it would be Urban "we'd be going at it right now"

how do you explain this:

"You do it one more time and the Orlando Sentinel's not welcome here ever again. Is that clear? It's yes or no."

A stunned Fowler replied: "Urban, come on. Don't make any threats. That's fine. I'll play by the rules. ...

what rules is he refering to exactly? how is this not trying to control the media?

Ever so slightly but not enough to warrant a mad man rant. Diva label is starting to stick.

You guys don't read so good.

I already said that Meyer was out of line, and that it was particularly wrong of him to attack the guy like that in front of other reporters. I even agreed with the dbagery characterization by droski.

And, I even said that anything the reporter did to worsen the situation would not excuse Meyer's misconduct.

I am just saying that the reporter also reacted poorly. Do I blame the reporter for that? No. He was just defending himself in an awkward situation.

90% percent of males with testicles would have at least responded with something along the lines of what this reporter did. You don't talk to a grown man like a child and expect no recourse. Most people in that situation would have responded far worse than the reporter did to Urban's threats.

I'm surprised that Lawgator doesn't know more about the bad blood between Meyer/Fowler...seems like that is pretty common knowledge...anyway, Meyer was a douche...everyone agrees with that. Now he will have to apologize, if only he would have to do it in front of the same amount of people and with a camera rolling as well.

Of course he's stressed, he could potentially face Nick Saban four times in the next two years.

It doesn't surprise me that immature players are happy with their immature coach.

I seem to remember -- oh, I don't know -- all of you defending Kiffin's perpetual stupidity in the guise of "he's got our back."

It's just loyalty. Ask Bryce Brown about that.

Yeah . . . but the difference is that you recognize it and are still doing it.

Every remark that Kiffin made was with a smirk; and he ended his press conferences with a grin. Go watch them. gators got upset and quit but didn't quit then quit less then didn't quit at all.

i love how this is being used as a recruiting tool already. "if this where my son..." translates to i will protect your boy as my own. i wonder how many parents are just focusing on that and no the fact that cum overacted to a truthful quote by a player.
