They have a lot of old guys who don’t like to run. I could see them losing early to a young team that pushes the ball, because Lebron and Durant just had to play more than half the game.
they also have a whole squad of all NBA young guys. Ant Edwards Haliburton, AD, Tatum, Bam none of those guys are old. Most of the team is under 31 5 are 27 and under. This team is extremely young Lebron (who you cant really count as he seems like a cyborg) Steph is 36, KD is 35, Holiday is 34. Which of them is slow? Embid is 30 AD is 31.

starting Lineup of
Tyrese Haliburton 24
Anthony Edwards 22
Devin Booker 27
Jason Tatum 26
Bam 27

wins these games. Outside of Ant these are all backups....This lineup could never play Lebron Curry and KD a minute and beat anyone.

Tatum, Holiday and White are teammates.
So are Lebron and AD
KD and Booker.

The only worries this team has is if they lose more than one big man. AD and Embid are both injury-prone. The big slow guys are the key to dominating and the reason we had to send this team is because believe it or not FIBA is more physical than the NBA. There are only two frontcourt in these Olympics that could challenge this team. Hilariously enough one is Serbia. The other is France. France is the one I was most worried about but they just got spanked by Serbia on the 12th. I think France is a worse matchup for us though. Both these teams have a lot of NBA players on their roster (mostly guys people haven't heard much of) but they are NBA players.

Announcer said he played his collegiate ball at Tennessee, the other announcer then says yeah I watched a ton of him while I was watching Knecht this year.

You’re making a convincing argument, but there’s one thing you forgot to mention. What if our players just don’t play defense? They’re all scorers and not a tough one among them that I can see.

Their defense is their strong suit, actually.

In all their games so far they’ve played great defense. It’s the offense that hasn’t meshed totally.

BAM, AD, Tatum, White and Holliday are all very good to great defensive players.

This is probably the best Olympic team in a long time IMO.

Ummm..... Derrick White, AD, Jason Tatum, Anthony Edwards, Bam and Jrue Holiday are all elite defenders. That's almost half the team. The only guys on this team not known to be at least a good defender are Booker and Haliburton. Literally everyone else on this team is known as at least a +defender. Yes even KD. Steph might be a problem against big point guards so there's that. The thing is the teams they face, they are gonna have maybe 2-3 guys USA has to watch out for and that's only the best teams. Opposing teams have to be wary of 11-12 players on this team. Everyone on this team except maybe Derrick White can drop an unsurprising 30 on you. even his career high is 38. Think about it players 7-12 on this team are better than any 5 players any other team has.

As far as youth... ehh these international teams are made up of mostly veterans. Dont let a few young names fool you. Canada has ton of NBA players but only 2 that are star level (SGA, Murray). In the whole international pool there are only like 6 or 7 guys that would have even made the USA team. We are gonna roflstomp them.

I’ll have to trust you guys on the defensive take. I don’t really listen to the NBA commentary anymore. I was more going by what I’ve seen when I have watch these guy play, which is that most of these guys don’t like to be touched and the rules don’t apply the same to them as they do for a bench player.

I hope they kick some butt while they’re all together. I wouldn’t take anyone seriously if they compared any of the current superstars to Patrick Ewing, John Stockton, or Scottie Pippen. But maybe in today’s NBA, those younger players are pretty good defenders. I know I don’t respect Lebron, or Durant’s defense. I couldn’t remember the last time I thought they were hustling. Anthony Davis looked like he wanted to be somewhere else when matched against Jokic in the playoffs, and defense was what made Davis elite coming out of college.

The FIBA whistle is different, so they have to play different. I think it’s why you’ve already seen some pretty stellar defensive performances in their warm up games.

I think Embiid had like 4 blocks the other night and was basically impenetrable.

I think these guys are really trying hard.

They need to or somebody will sneak up and bitch slap them! 🤣

I didn’t watch the game but read USA almost lost to Sudan, a 45 point underdog.

Surprisingly tough game that was fun to watch. Thor for the Sudan essentially cost them the game in my opinion going hero mode although he also almost won it for them. I could care less about the exhibition games but man the media would've ate them alive.

They definitely were a gritty team. Just some puzzling decisions from coach Kerr. Edwards needs more of bookers minutes and the same goes for Bam taking Embiids

Agreed! Embiid is great in the pace and space of the NBA but he just feels super clunky in Olympic basketball to me. Sure he can score on just about anyone....but it's at the cost of any kind of ball movement or feeling of coherent offense.

Very good player, if he would have played for Cameroon the stats would be insane. But with a loaded team like this he just takes everyone out of it and doesn’t let the pace pick up like it needs to considering we have the best athletes on the court.

Sudan was playing out of its mind ... That team is weird they have 2 guys under 6-6. Half the team is 6-9 and above. I was unable to find the actual 12 man roster the closest one I could find didn't have JT thor on it and he was definitely in the game and I'm sure I saw at least one of the Maker brothers. But their player pool contained a whos who of NBA freak busts. Marial Shayok was the guy with the carttonish release that almost buried USA shooting 6-12 from 3 also an NBA draftee in 2019. these guys are playing for contracts for sure.

Feels like Uros was over hated during his time here.

Yeah, he wasn’t very athletic for his size but dude played physical and didn’t back down to anyone.

JP Estrella has a very good chance of becoming the next Tennessee enforcer based on his performance against Edey in the E8 game last season.

And we stole the gold from Russia in ice hockey with the immortal call, "Do you believe in miracles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I think we actually kicked their butts in the 1980 hockey semis. The 1972 basketball gold medal was stolen. The USSR was given 2 do overs in the final 3 seconds.
