I can't wrap my head around this. I get that you're playing on an international court with FIBA rules, but I simply cannot comprehend how (even with the rest of the world getting better at basketball, as evidenced by the NBA draft and the MVP tally this past season) a team with twelve of the best 20/25 players in the world isn't winning each game by 15 points at bare minimum.

They’re not playing for love of country. They’re playing for a vacation in Paris with their friends.

He was in opening game. Usa played everyone except him and Haliburton vs Serbia I didnt see Uros get out in game which is weird he played well against USA in first warmup game. But USA finally took off the training wheels this game and spanked Serbia silly. KD was almost perfect dropping 23 off the bench on 8-9 shooting and 2-2 from the line.

Keep in mind it's the first game for both teams, but def a good sign for USA. James and Durant were amazing to watch, and the team as a whole is very impressive. They should get even better after another game or two. Hopefully they keep it up and bring the gold home.

How do you know some of them aren't playing for the love of their country? All of them can easily afford vacations to Paris during any off-season and include their friends

In retrospect, he’s probably interchangeable with Lebron. Kerr didn’t want to pull Lebron out when he was playing so well. At Lebron’s age, he needs to stay warm to stay on. I expect there will be some games where Lebron doesn’t play much and it’s Tatum’s show.

Either that, or Tatum slept with Kerr’s daughter.

You could say they are doing it for selfish reasons. Like for their own legacy or to raise their national profile for more endorsement money.

But to say it’s for a vacation…

C’mon now.

I mean, you have LeBron and Durant ahead of him at his position. So I understand how it happens. Still crazy to see a top 10 player that just won a title not even see the court.

Nah. In this economy? We all know LeBron James can’t afford to go to Paris on his own. He’s just there for the free ride.

Well I mean Embid is literally playing for the hate of his country so there's that...he is the rare triple citizen....Cameroon, France and recently USA. He became a French citizen in 2022 and then later that same year got his US citizenship. I am fairly confident if you were to ask the players on team USA they wouldn't be offended by the notion they were playing for the free trip to France. Just because I can afford one does not mean I'm not taking a free one and have a legit excuse not to necessarily have to bring the 'family' with. With the right amount of deodorant/febreeze and prophylactics, a trip to France can be quite memorable.

Team USA has finally took off cruise control but Serbia is looking like a strong contender for silver. Uros not getting a lot of PT though on a team that's 4 deep at 7 footers (ok Petrušev is 6-11 but he's the starting center).. Joker is the starting 4 lol. Leaving Uros as the 12th man.
