Up front apologies as I feel certain this has been addressed elsewhere, but I can't seem to locate it. What's the deal with Uros Plavsic? While I haven't watched every minute of every game this season, I've watched most of all games, and he seems to be a non-factor, not getting on the court, etc. Is he injured, or is he just not good enough to unbury himself off of the depth chart? Seems even when we play opponents with a couple of bigs and could use an extra body to at least go in for a few minutes here and there to give others a breather, especially in foul trouble, etc. he is still glued to the bench.

He's just a bench warmer no more or no less.

Unfortunately I think he's just one level too high for his ability. He'd be killer at a mid-size school because he does have some skill and definitely has size. It's just not clicking for him up top and I don't think he has the athletic ability to make up for it. That's the difference I've always had between him and ORN. ORN is an SEC-level athlete but doesn't always connect the dots (although last game was encouraging). I've just not seen that from Uros.

Uros has two more years to develop into a serviceable player if he stays. Right now he is not a great rebounder, or shot blocker for his size. And not a great athlete. He has a decent turnaround hook shot, but that is about all he brings to the table currently.

If Pons leaves and Fulkerson stays I look for us to add a grad transfer rebounder/rim protector for next year. Expect one of Gaines, Pember, or Plavsic to not be on the roster next year. I would say Pember and Anosike are the most likely to stay as far as big men go.

Unfortunately, today's game doesn't bode well for the 7 footer with no outside shot, and with relatively low mobility. By the time a heavy big man can react (or even get down the court), a play is usually over.

It is nice in theory to have those 7 footers, but most of them seem to spend the majority of their time on the bench.

The Arkansas center gives me hope Uros could become serviceable as Uros appears quicker / more athletic than him. The Arkansas guy does have the outside shot you pointed out although I recall there being talk of Uros having a competent outside shot in practice (we heard the same about Fulky so I take it with a grain of salt). In CRB’s offense I’m not sure if a 15’+ jump shot is needed for the 5. Where Uros will probably always struggle at UT is the constant defensive switching as he doesn’t appear to have the foot speed if he got switched onto a wing. I’ve noticed improvement this season over last in his limited minutes with his positioning and defensive recognition. If he could learn to get in the lane and keep his arms straight up then fight like heck to box out and rebound then I could see him getting 15-20 minutes a game in the next 2 years depending on who else we recruit in the post. I hope it works out for both him and Gaines as they both have inspirational stories.

Uros, like many recruits, was built up in Vol lore before he stepped off the plane. So far it hasn't worked out.

On a positive note, he seems to be an outstanding teammate. He genuinely seems to celebrate other players successes by standing and cheering.
We give scholarships for cheerleaders, no need wasting a basketball scholarship

UT has him listed as a RS sophomore so he has 3 years left.

Uros is quite mobile for his size, and not a clumsy 7-footer as many at that height are. He gets up and down the court well, but doesn’t rebound or defend like we hoped he would. He actually has good vision, good hands, and good passing ability. I just don’t think he’s ever going to get enough game reps to hone his skills. I’m going to say that it’s still early in his individual development under Barnes, and that there is hope he could be a decent player here. I love his optimism and team-first attitude. I’m pulling for the big guy.

I agree, but they were wrong this time and he is simply a glorified cheerleader

Apparently it is an 8 man rotation this year. It’s silly to complain about the 11th, 12th, 13th on the roster. Gonzaga pretty much uses a 6/7 man rotation this year.
Most players would love to know they’re going to play 34-35 minutes a game. They don’t play the game to sit out 15 minutes a game. These are young athletes. The notion they should play less does not appeal to most of them. I say play your best players 32-34 minutes a game.

I don’t see him getting any significant playing time while he is at UT unless CRB works some unbelievable magic with Uros. He plays too small for a 7-footer, too slow, and doesn’t rebound well. He has a nice baby hook shot and that is about it.
