Uros

Uros has two more years to develop into a serviceable player if he stays. Right now he is not a great rebounder, or shot blocker for his size. And not a great athlete. He has a decent turnaround hook shot, but that is about all he brings to the table currently.

If Pons leaves and Fulkerson stays I look for us to add a grad transfer rebounder/rim protector for next year. Expect one of Gaines, Pember, or Plavsic to not be on the roster next year. I would say Pember and Anosike are the most likely to stay as far as big men go.

It is my opinion that what keeps him off the floor is his inability to switch on defense like Fulky and ORN can. He could be valuable in some games if we run into a big strong road grader in the post that can push Fulky around and gets ORN in foul trouble. Might force us into a zone look more than coach cares for.

Grant won SEC POY as a sophomore. Uros seems like a good dude, but he will never play more than mop up minutes on a winning SEC roster.
A little bit of a trigger finger reaction. He is a project. He has limitations. He also has things he does well and yes, currently he is not physical enough as a player.
Personally, I think I see some development.
He is a great teammate. Currently, he is a role player at best. In that regard, he reminds me a little bit of Fulkerson after his injury.
I want to see what kind of player he becomes, next year after a little more development and experience and with Chandler on the floor and them running a two man isolation.

I desperately hope he shows something, I just don't see it. ORN has at least flashed. Pons, while looking rough in his early years, showed elite athleticism. Uros doesn't show much of anything besides height. Same for Pember, although his shot could save him. I hope one of them figures it out, because we could be in a massive hole next year in the post. If Fulk leaves, shew....

Uros “flashed” at MSU last year.

ORN has flashed but Uros’ 16 points against Mississippi State last year doesn’t qualify as a flash?

No, Pons was just great all of last year. His early years would've been his FR and SO seasons.

Well Barnes doesn't think so since Uros has 80 total minutes since that game. Are you really arguing that Uros has looked more productive than ORN in their times on the court? I mean, idk what to tell you on that one. I'm not rooting against the guy, but doesn't seem to be much there in on-court production.

I'm not saying that Uros ever pans out, but many were saying the same things about Fulky a couple of years ago. Barnes does have a track record of making players better so maybe there's hope still. I will say though I haven't seen much from him. I think Pember has more upside than Uros

Biggest issue I see for Pons is that it’s just hard with today’s style to have a guy who can’t guard anyone other than another big 5 man. Alexander was so good because of his ability and footwork, Uros has a long way to go in that area.

I trust the moves Barnes makes on the court. Obviously, he plays Olivier ahead of Uros, and he knows his players. Still, Uros scoring 16 against a big, talented frontline was impressive. I don't know what to tell you if you don't think so.

Will Perdue at Vanderbilt was terrible his first two or three years (one a redshirt, I believe), but he developed into a dominant SEC player. Same for Tom Boerwinkle for Mears at Tennessee. Aberdeen( all 5 ft 5 of him) supposedly beat the hell outta of Boerwinkle practicing against him with tennis rackets until Big Tom became a great player.

But the list is very short of those who develop into players after their 2nd or 3rd year.
