US may have killed Quds Force Commander Qasem Soleimani

Trump for three years: "You cannot trust the intelligence agencies !! They are part of the deep state out to get me ! Any intelligence they have should be released and not kept secret like this, its not fair !!!!"

Trump for the last six days: "Mum's the word."

Between Iraq, Libya, and the baseless Russia-Trump conspiracy, Tonkin 2, being weaponized by presidents from FDR on down, etc. - haven't our intel agencies and FBI proven they can't be unquestionably trusted?

I mean, what the hell does it take, man?

It took you 30 minutes to respond after I edited my post only to still be trying to blame the invasion of Iraq on Clinton? You're special.
You were blaming the intelligence failures and putting it squarely on Bush. All they are doing is pointing out Clinton was using the same intelligence and you choose to ignore it.

Bottom line is place blame where it belongs, on intelligence. All a president can do is act on the info he is provided. Clinton did and Bush did. But the left goes amnesiatic on this topic.

So why do you suddenly not believe the intelligence agencies?

I trust the intelligence agencies to work in good faith.

I do not trust Trump and Pompeo's rendition of what the intelligence agencies are saying. In fact, its rapidly getting to the point that I think it entirely likely that there was no imminent threat from Soliemani at all, and that Pompeo and Trump are flat out lying about that to justify what they did, and more importantly when they did it.

It would appear that there is growing sentiment within the GOP that Trump lied about that.

Did I say it wasn't? Also, it isn't "even" if he is. He is.

Did I say you said that? ; )

Cool. LG is a hypocrite. We know this. Does it even mean anything to be a hypocrite? You can't consistently root for either of these two teams without being a big ol fkn hypocrite.

He was the leader of a designated terrorist organization, there is no disputing that so what further justification is needed?

I'm pretty confident that would have leaked by now.

You assume that Trump is accurately telling us what the intelligence told him. That's where you may be going wrong. If you believe certain GOP Senators, Trump's lying may be the real problem here. Bound to catch up to him eventually, see e.g. Melania.

For the record @n_huffhines ,I don't think we should even be there. We should not have removed Saddam, Muammar or any other dictator. I do however like what appears to be Trumps red line. You kill an American and we kill your leadership.

That was the justification W used to get us into a never-ending war in Afghanistan. Rinse and repeat.

In all fairness , you also can’t blame politicians when they do nothing and then blame them when they do something without being a hypocrite either . 😊

That's how I feel. I understand why previous Presidents didn't go after him but I also have no problem with Trump ordering the attack. He had the blood of American soldiers on his hands and that made him a fair target regardless if there was really an attack coming or not.

Yes, according to Trump. Trump says the reason he did this, when he did it, was because Soleimani was an imminent threat. Pompeo said the same thing. That an attack from him was days away.

If that is not true, then it becomes obvious that Trump did what he did to curry favor with the base and distract from impeachment. He should be removed from office forthwith.

My understanding this particular line of discussion was invading Iraq not current events.

What's special is your straw man; I didn't blame Clinton anymore that I blame Bush. I think both dropped caution at some point, but at some point presidents have to lead with the intel they have. I factually explained that Clinton and senior Dems had sold WMDs for years, and that Bush closed the sale.

Your edit was therefore, pointless.

Did they say an attack was days away? Serious question I'm not sure.

It could be argued given his history that Soleimani was an imminent threat, another attack was just a matter of time.

So they did have wwmd and we knew it. So the premise for war was legit after all.

The left can't have it both ways.
The left isn't trying to have it both ways, it's the right that was pushing the WMD's from the beginning. They mislead Clinton.

Feel the same way on Dec 16, 1998?

Oh, I'm talking Soleimani. I think the index of suspicion that Trump misrepresented the intelligence so as to justify his actions is growing.
