Any soldier that goes to Iraq or Saudi Arabia is just being loyal to Saudi Arabia and Halliburton for a few socialist benefits like subsidized healthcare, subsidized education, etc.

Some things for you to chew on. 1 - The new people making up the military are increasing from families with a military service history. 2 - More and more young adults are unfit for military service. 3 - I don't think the military would willingly ever come calling on you.

Another: When we are willing to serve in foreign countries and thus show our resolve and capabilities, it makes potential enemies think much harder about attacking us. Do our military strengths actually match what we are up against in may of these conflicts and against insurgencies in general - not at all, but they still demonstrate our technology and ability. Do you think the Nazis would have taken on all of Europe if they had seen France and other European countries as military equals rather than a fragmented, feuding bunch of pansies?

Finally: Thank you very much for my subsidized (GI Bill) education. And even more for my subsidized healthcare (and my wife's military retirement) ... she's retired; I'm simply a veteran.

Look, I'm not necessarily buying the eminent threat story either. I can't make heads or tails out of what has happened before New years and since New Years. As far as I'm concerned, however, we seem to be a few steps further away from WWIII than it looked like we were at immediately after the Soleimani hit. That is a good thing no matter how you slice it.

At least be able to acknowledge the positive outcome thus far.
