US may have killed Quds Force Commander Qasem Soleimani

Maybe I've missed the discussion in the pages, and I'm not trying to upset or provoke anyone with this, but:

Was the strike on Soleimani in accordance with American military policy for assaults on other governments, and with international law?

Not posturing, just honestly looking for information from those smarter than me.
Again, taking out a military commander is not far from taking out a president or prime minister. May as well drone strike Assad and Putin.

Governments and councils of men have been taking out generals , politicians and leaders of other countries for thousands of years . If you play with bombs and terrorize others it’s just a matter of time before somebody gets you . Live by the sword , and somebody’s drone will find you , eventually . No matter what the fallout is ... he will never be feared again by anyone .

I'm sincerely dumbfounded at how many of a certain party are upset we killed the guy. A guy, who was terrorizing, and instigating an attack to literally kill Americans. I guess they prefer we leave them to die like obama did, it boggles my mind. Party over country!!

Deemed a terrorist a decade ago by UN and 5 years ago by the EU. Nut up people, this was a bad guy that was allowed to trapse around the region backed by terrorist state conducting open training for terrorists that want to do bad things.
But but but... muh Trump

So the news air strike in Iraq didn’t killed any senior leadership in the PMF. It was a medical convoy.
