It's a pretty weird situation. In theory the IC should be a bunch of inverted, impenetrable, heavily insulated funnels with the directors being the nonpublic mouthpiece ... we the public should't hear an uninvited word from them ... not a peep - not a leak. Of course, it also means that when we or their intended audience do hear from them we have no way of knowing whether they've been naughty or nice - honest or lying through their teeth. With known CIA shenanigans and blunders over the years - kingmakers, drug dealers, arms traffickers, etc, how much should we trust them? And with the congressional "oversight" by people like Schiff, I'm afraid there's not much adult supervision where the IC is concerned. We desperately need a competent reliable IC, but do we have one, and how would we know? If the Trump investigation (particularly the roots), drug wars, election security, FISA compliance, and the like are examples, we're in deep schiff.
