USA two different countries at Super Bowl?

Is it a problem for you that it's being played at all or that you read an article referring to it as the "Black National Anthem?" The telecast only referred to it as "Lift Every Voice and Sing."
Exactly. It's a nickname for the song that some apply to it

As long as it's played before the game, pearls will be clutched, no matter how they refer to it.
You're right. Where's the Asian national anthem, and the Jewish National Anthem and the White national anthem.? Shouldn't we hear those as well?

We are all Americans except that there are those that keep trying to divide us along race/sex/height/intelligence/political party, and this is the kind of **** that does it.

It's an American invention, as baseball is, and it's a way of unifying us before a we vs they sporting event. The fact that these sports are played elsewhere is irrelevant. They play God Save the Queen before an NFL game in London

He said it was uniquely American. It isn't.

I've always seen it as a waste of 2 minutes before the game. Then again, I feel no emotions when it comes to anthems, flags, and other tokens of nationalism.

It's lemming-ish to me.

It's obvious you have never served.

You're welcome.

Let me ask: Are you going to watch the game? Do you have an interest in who wins or loses? Why is this any different than The Grammy Awards or Oscar's in the grand scheme of things?

Don't you have more interest in the price of gasoline or something else that affects your day-to-day life?

If the playing of this song prior to a football game is so divisive to you, i suspect you're looking for division any place you can find it.

Obviously.

And those of us that have served gave you the right to be a dick about it as well.

And..... you are still welcome.

Did you? What freedom of mine was at risk at the hands of a foreign entity when you served?

I don't think you want to go down this rabbit hole with me.

If you served, then why does it appear that you all GAF more about the flag than The Constitution when it was the oath you took to defend it against enemies foreign or domestic?

This is right wing virtue signaling and placing symbolism over substance. Rush Limbaugh is rolling in his grave RIP...

Interesting question. I'll be watching for a change. I am Switzerland though as I have family that are Chiefs fans and friends that are Eagles fans. I don't love nor hate either team although I think Philadelphia itself is a shizhole. I couldn't care less about any of those 'hey look at me' awards shows so I never watch them. Is this any more 'important'? Not really. I do think about what I would do of somebody gave me a SB ticket. I'd sell that sucker in a heartbeat.

Not sure what you are driving at with the last question.

This is a right/left issue? But if you want to put it in the symbolism over substance category, playing a 'Black National Anthem ' is certainly that on steroids.

So you answered my question. You really don't GAF about the game even before this anthem controversy.

Meanwhile, I have money on the game and am not watching or caring about WTF goes on before the coin toss.

And if you want me to criticize the need to sing the BNA, you won't get any pushback from me. I think the entire thing is ridiculous on both sides.
