So was this action at Montebello high school in Montebello, California, racist as well?

Did they do it to deride another race or did they do it as a political protest?

(I am not arguing, I just have no context for your questions so I don't know why they did it)

It was, among other things; criminal, deplorable, un-American, and unpatriotic.

Was it racist because all of the perpetrators (I'm guessing about this) are of one race?

Or is it only racist if the action is taken against a particular race or races?

I get the impression that these asshats were striking out against the lawmakers attempting to pass immigration reform laws. Many of them should have been arrested and punished. I wonder why that didn't happen?

Civil disobedience and protesting government action is as American as it gets. That is why we even have a country.

Patriotism is over-rated. Was Thomas Paine (born in Britain) a patriot? He railed against the government of his country of origin. I got more respect for someone who stands up for principle than someone who stands up for geography.

(btw, I am not necessarily talking about this protest, I am not sure what it was about)

I'm not one of those 'love it or leave it' guys, but if you dislike America so much that the USA chant is offensive to you, you should probably leave for your own sake.

I understand why sometimes you don't have freedom of speech in school, but it seems pretty hard to preach openness, tolerance, and even freedom of speech if you can't even do a patriotic chant within your borders.

Lol, you and RT have the same avatar so I thought he had literally just contradicted his last post.

The context/intent of the chant in this case was disgraceful. Otherwise, I agree with you 100%.

I agree with your statements in general.

The short story on this particular protest is about 1000 kids from two different high schools went to a third high school, took down and stole the CA flag from the third school's flagpole and raised the Mexican flag and the upside-down US flag. Thus my comments about criminal etc..

I'm guessing this high school's students are just really patriotic and the Southern Miss band is very deeply concerned about border security.:good!:

Correct! There is no other reasonable interpretation of these great patriots' behavior.
