Powell won't officially announce until the 4th quarter today but it's more of a sure thing right now than Dunkley was. The guy was recruiting Robert Woods and Sharrif Floyd to UF this week and recruited Josh Shaw to UF.

no defensive line (influenza or not) is going to get a lot sacks with the offensive strategy the Vols used against UF. Crompton threw only four passes that day further than 5 yards down the field ( 1 completion, 1 incompletion and 2 interceptions). In football you use the running game and short passes to slow down the blitz and that was Tennessee's entire offensive strategy.

You just have to believe that the UCLA people are still drunk after this news. It has been rumored that Carroll was facing some possible sanctions from NCAA people and he's bolting because of it. UCLA, Cal. Stanford, and maybe other PAC 10 schools would benefit from this more than we will.......JMO

Recruiting is different than landing. Powell was recruiting Sharrif Floyd and roommate Robert Woods this week just like Jacques Smith said he was recruiting Sharrif Floyd.

the point is you're sold on a school if you're trying to persuade others to join you.



Kyle Prater has contacted the UF staff along with Dillon Baxter in the wake of this whole Carroll thing. Doubt we land either one and Woods still has to visit before I'll say we have a good chance with him. USC is still a draw could very well retain southern Californians Baxter and Woods despite the likely coaching change.

ESPN just said that Woods will stick with his commitment to USC, but Prater may go home to Illinois to re-consider his options instead of enrolling at USC. TIFWIW. :dunno:

no surprising about Woods. USC is going to probably keep most of their in-state kids which will probably include Baxter too as McKnight and Johnson both leave. Prater's got a decision to make. even though he's contacted the staff I doubt Florida's got much of a chance.

Top 3 Program's of the last 10 years would be:

FLorida (Gawd that hurt to say)
LSU (Won 2 championships)
Texas (Won Championship and also beat OSU last year)

If you cannot beat (ever) an SEC team then sorry you are not an elite team. You are from a bad conference we're you smack around borderline high school teams that call themselves D1 and then go get your face ripped off when you play with the big boys. Welcome to the SEC baby! My BF still says it was the shoes TN wore that allowed them to win against them in their bowl game. LOL. What losers buckeye fans are. Come back and play us again. 0-10 has a nice ring to it.

So USC would've had to beat one of those 3 teams you listed to have beaten a top program? What if they beat LSU this year or last year? Or Florida during Tebow's sophomore year? OSU beat Texas in '06. OSU also beat a Miami team in 02-03 that was better than any UF or LSU team this decade.

Your criteria for top programs is a little screwy. The Big Ten isn't the SEC but it ain't a bunch of "borderline hs teams" if you watched any football this year.

OSU didn't beat Miami the ref that was paid off and threw the phantom flag did. That Miami team was only there do to its easy schedule. Yes, a top SEC team would have beat them. This is why our top SEC team is undefeated in BCS championship games. This is also why Auburn got shafted and USC played OK instead. They wanted USC in the game and new Auburn would have won. College football wants USC to win so they can tap into the LA market. And once again, if you go 0-9 against the SEC (including a LOU Holtz SC team that he got canned from) then you're just not that great a team. Go Buckeyes beat that tough Indiana, Minnesota, Illinois, Purdue, michigan state. You can do it! HAHAHA. Conference is so bad they don't even count the 11th school.

Miami is definitely a top 5 program of the last 10 years. They owned the beginning of the decade.

I've argued with people from Ohio since I moved here 10 years ago (not by choice might I add) and thank God in June I'm moving back home to Nashville. But I'll say it for ya one time since your a sleeper OSU fan ... O-H ... I-O ... now let's go get the crud kicked out of us in the championship game in 2010! The chant will be 0-10 in 2010. I reallty do hate the buckeyes, I might add.

I've lived here for 5 yrs now and I don't like it either. OSU was my 2nd favorite team growing up and I just graduated from there so I'm no "sleeper" fan. Anyway, let's just back to UT recruiting.

Prater said he is not enrolling at USC on Monday and instead will go home and talk with his family..you could tell at the game he was not happy after te PC situation...he didn't look too impressive at the game but in saying not too many players did impress me.

Per his twitter, Andy Staples says he spoke to all the commits at the game today and will have a article at shortly. I got the feeling from his tweet (in response to a question) that the players will be open to other schools.

Feldman also indicated Baxter was on the open market.

I don't think being with/without having Prater will hurt our team. I believe CLK has 6 to 8 scholarships left to fill. I also believe CLK can afford to be picky with his final offers. The OL and TE spots are where we could use the help, not WR's.
On another note, it's hard to believe the SC coaches were not returning calls. It makes me wonder how many coaches are going to jump ship. SC had already lost CLK and the guy to left to coach at Washington, who, by the way, did a great job this year.
I agree with a previous poster who stated the Pac 10 schools will benefit more from PC's departure than the SEC.
