USC recruits shocked

Does the Pac-10 conference require the same preparatory course load as the SEC? If that doesn't make sense, essentially what I'm asking is: Could USC commitments (especially potential EEs) have to take more classes before enrolling at UT?

I doubt our admission standards are higher than those at USC or the PAC-10, or that we would require additional courses.

And to echo what others said, it definitely seems like a done deal. All of the Southern California sports guys were saying that they would be almost shocked if it didn't happen. Also heard reports that Carroll was in Seattle today meeting with Seahawks officials. A couple of replacements mentioned for USC: Jim Harbaugh, Norm Chow, Mike Riley.

a few USC commits have contacted UF in light of Carroll's possible departure. Robert Woods is among them and may visit Florida along with Gator commit and fellow southern Californian Ronald Powell on the 22nd.

EDIT: forgot to mention Powell and Woods roomed together this week

Powell came out and committed? I really wanted him I am not going to lie, but I think in the end he will realize that he jumped on a program on the decline and I think TN will have more sacks in 4 years from their class of DEs than UF will have with theirs.

I still cannot believe our baling wire and bubble gum OL kept you off Crompton with 4 and 5 star guys all over your DL. It is not just about who you recruit, it is how you develop them, and without Tebow I think Florida is headed for a tumble.

All this Prater talk is starting to remind of Bryce Brown: was an EE to Miami, backed down at the last minute, reopened his search (still Miami verbal) , had a list that did not include us in the top 3, entered the picture late, and got him in the end-totally unexpected. The same potential scenario could happen here.

Respect your opinion but i think Brantley will be very solid. Plus they have years of good recruiting classes that were filled with talent. They are not going anywhere for a long time, but we are on the come up.

Well said, you never know with this staff. How many commits have we gotten from players that we didn't even know were on the coaches' radar?

However, I don't see us getting Prater. There are several other committed players that I could see happening before Prater.

Sorry, I may have been unclear. I do not think they fall apart and return to pre Spurrier suck. I think they are entering Zook like years which given their recent success will feel like the wilderness. 8-9 wins a year with some losses OOC to FSU, maybe 2-2 in the next 4 years versus them, maybe 2-2 versus us, only in the SECCG once during the next 4 years etc. It is a run that Kentucky fans would die for, but that is a step back for UF from the dominance of the Tebow years.

Somebody call Coach Kiffin and tell him to tell Scroggins heck no! We waiting for a Barkley transfer!(Just kidding but Scroggins shunned us and looked awful in the UA game even though the line couldn't block).

Yes, Prater was big on us before committing and we were in his final 3 due to CLK. Google it and you'll still find the old story. Now question is, if Carroll does leave do they go after CLK? I don't think he'd go due to investigation going on over there but if offered ....?

OREGON STATES coach is who they claim will be the top target.

Ill take Bray. JS can stay with the Trojans he looked awful in the skills competition and the UA game so ill pass.

The word on ESPN is that Jeff Fisher and Jack Del Rio is the top candidates for the USC job.

You don't go from having a QB that predominantly runs to one who predominantly passes without there being some bumps along the way.

That's why I'm glad Cam Newton is no longer there.

Just got a text saying Bates is going with Carroll to Seattle. I expect more USC coaches to jump ship and go with Carroll to Seattle. That should help with some offensive players we're going after now.

I think Fisher is making about 6 mill/yr, so I don't know how USC beats that...although I wouldn't mind him leaving the Titans, to some degree. Many of his personnel decisions the past several years have been horrendous.
They persisted year after year, after year to try to win with Budget Rental WR's...and it cost us dearly. We finally draft one in the 1st Rd. (Kenny Britt) and the guy contributes in a MAJOR way his rookie season. He also would still have Kerry Collins (who has been nothing more than a journeyman QB for the past several years...like Kitna was for the Lions) playing. Bud Adams overruling him, and VY's play saved Fisher's job.

If USC wants him, go ahead...be my guest.

did you see the Florida offense in 2006? did you see the Florida offense in 2007? it can happen and that was without any decent running backs.

I think if it looks more like M. Riley is the choice, half their class to this point probably bails.

But if it sounds like someone such as Peterson, Fisher or Del Rio are coming, more will stay put, imho.
