USC sanctions

You're sure of that how? Also, I'm sure I've been in a whole lot more locker rooms of elite teams than most. Don't ever remember hearing any conversation about what kind of house a guy's parents were living in at the time.

And even if he did hear it, what's Pete Carrol supposed to do? Demand they move immediately?

I'm really not. Again, I just am sick of people making claims that they cannot support to save their life ... eric is the worst about it. His hatred for Kiffin has completely seeped into just about every one of his posts.

I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but let's be real here, your love of Kiffin is pretty evident in most of yours.

If you are "sick" about it, then go stick your head in the toilet and get the hell out of this wonderous thread.

That's my point. Even if he did know it was going on, why would he upset everything and get himself in more trouble than what the school is probably going to be in at this point. Carroll had to have known, college kids can't keep their mouths shut really, especially those that know what is going on.

Yeah, that's so weird. A lot of people on here seem to not like that guy very much. I wonder why? You're very close to being branded a Kiffin apologist. This board makes for a harsh judge. Tread lightly.

Until somebody stupidly gives the NCAA subpoena power, this sort of thing will continue to happen, and there's nothing anybody can do about it unless somebody screws up later on (like the genius that is Lloyd Lake).

This is just an example of what happens when a college program becomes successful. The vultures start circling, and things get compromised. For one, I think it's dumb to have programs be able to get punished over things they have no control over.

Not saying Carroll's staff didn't know about it the whole time, but there probably was some point in time in which Bush's family was receiving extra benefits, and there wouldn't have been any way that anybody at USC could have a clue. NCAA gets a whif of it and the hammer drops over something that the school had no ability to detect, much less prevent.
Given the nature of the penalties, I'm going to be surprised if the 'AA report doesn't shred Todd McNair.

What I'd like you to explain is when the compliance office "determines" that someone is living in housing they can't afford, what do they do next?

Investigate it further. If it is determined that the player is receiving improper benefits, then it would result in the loss of a scholarship.

First name that came to my mind as well. Lane will most likely be looking for a new RB coach next week.
I don't see how the 'AA arrives at this level of punishment without imputing actual knowledge to someone. If they don't make that finding, they'll have a tough time justifying the two year bowl ban before the Committe on Appeals.

This is the second comment in about 10 posts that you've talked about how you are always around elite programs/coaches. I know you are a lawyer, but what exactly do you do. Are you a booster as well, are you UT's own Buddy Garrity?

USC should be thinking about who to replace Kiffin once they come off of probation, IMO. Why keep someone there with his history??

The better question is: why hire someone with his history with a looming NCAA penalties?

I would think the AD should be the one on the chopping block.

I have been waiting on someone to bring up the players that mysteriously get new rides once on campus. Sure some (dre kirkpatrick) might get the benefit but most on here do not realize that half of these kids not only get a football scholarship, but they qualify for a but load of grant money and others take out loans on top of that.

I saw several TN players in my day go get nice cars, maybe make one payment, and then have them get repossessed while they were at practice 2-3 months later. Willie miles and his H2 comes to mind.

I thought he was a good coach, but I really couldn't care less if he goes 12-0 or 0-12 at USC. I wasn't a fan of his personality at all really. But, I guess since I'm not a Kiffin hater, I'm a Kiffin lover even though I'm about as neutral as possible on the guy.

Yea, that's definitely not a vague answer. What I'm asking is how they determine if a player and/or his parents are receiving improper benefits without risking a huge law suit.

See, that's the great thing about America. Like the parents of players to compliance people, I don't have to tell you anything. As I've said here before: I am but a humble man, but I have many important friends.

USC should clean house, IMO. At this point, if they are going to be on probation, they should start over and make sure to tighten up compliance and keep better record of what is going on within their program.

Garrett is right now trying to figure out who wants to kill him worse, Tim Floyd or Lane Kiffin.

I may have to try a few of your connections in looking for a job then, Hat
