USS destroyer sailing by chinese disputed islands

Less worried about the actual hot war side of combat with China, much more worried about the disgusting amount of our domestic infrastructure Chinese firms have their hands in.

But china is good trade, ask biden. Isn't Alot of our military electronics are being made by china too?

Its all about the subs. China doesn't care how many lives are loss. They will not fight a pc war.

It’s always about the Subs .. we have 71’ish ( nobody is for sure ) China has 68’ish ( same goes for info) We have 18 Ohio class with 14 being nuclear , 34 Los Angeles class all nuke powered . Then the Virginia class, and the new hunter killer USS South Dakota <- check this one out of you like subs . China would be sealing its on fate taking on the US alone .

All of our subs are nuke. The smaller AIP classes in other navies are very quiet though and would be excellent for area denial of our ships. Dont forgot the badass Seawolf, although only 3.

I would love to go to Norfolk.

Sadly you don’t see them here often at all and everything about them is “ get you shot secret squirrel “ type stuff . We see lots of carriers and destroyers .
Oh and damn helicopters geez between them and the jets it’s crazy around here sometimes . Lol

Not just China, but Turkey, Mexico, some European countries, and others.

And in many cases it may be 'made in the USA', but from overseas components and/or by a firm owned by a larger firm from abroad. Our domestic military supply chain has been crippled through years of bad policy.

My daughter's homecoming was awesome. We walked around and looked at the 2 fleets present at the time.

Many people do not realize that subs are the most deadly weapon on Earth due to close proximity to our enemies cutting flight time and therefore hopefully nuking them into dust before they can launch all of theirs.

Each sub in some of our classes will carry up to 30 nuclear armed trident cruise missiles...just 1 of those subs could destroy every major city in Europe. Or China. Insane .

THAT is why China and Russia do not attack

Iran doesn't have any nukes and North Korea's nukes are no more powerful than what we dropped on Hiroshima.

Sup Ras. Good to see ya bro. My Pappaw loaded nuclear weapons on b52s etc during the Korean and Cold wars. There were long periods of time where we kept nuclear armed bombers in the air 24.7.365....

Has always interested me. In theory, we could build a hydrogen variety of nuclear bomb big enough to destroy the entire Earth. That's pretty insane...IIRC correctly that would be by messing up its tilt or orbit though...not actually blowing up the planet. There is a threshold I read about, I think around 40 megatons? Where after that, the shock wave, vaporization at ground zero, etc doesnt really increase anymore. All of the energy added after that just makes the column that goes up through the center of the mushroom cloud go up further and further towards space....the energy transferred out laterally "sideways" which would destroy more area is instead lost up into the column... my guess as a layman would be that the super heated air wants to rise up so fast due to gravity/density etc...I could be totally wrong though and it is just because "up" is the opposite effect of all the energy going "down" into the huge crater it creates...

Anyway...past a certain megaton you arent killing more people or covering more ground...just putting way more radioactive debris into the atmosphere which kills everyone and not your enemies

Neutron bombs were very controversial back in the 80's. Not sure if we signed a treaty or not but as far as we know we never deployed. Basically low yield nukes with death by radiation. I guess the theory was to kill people and not obliterate cities.

All the more reason for us to stay clear of this area...

Global Times' Editor-In-Chief Answers If "There Will Be A War Between China And The US"

First, as the strategic mutual trust between China and the US has almost evaporated and the US has strengthened its military presence in China's close neighborhood, the risk of accidental military frictions between China and the US has increased compared with the past. Moreover, when and if such friction occurs, it will be more politically difficult to keep it under control through peaceful means or to stop it from simmering beyond peaceful intentions.

Second, neither China nor the US wants a military conflict with the other side. Although both militaries are preparing for the worst-case scenario, neither wants a military showdown. There is therefore room for both sides to manage risks and avoid a military crisis.

No where close to similar. China is half a world a way from us. Germany was in Britain's backyard.
Back in the 30's Germany was far away too.
So let's talk allies, then shall we?
China is in Japan's, South Korea's, Philippines', etc., backyard.

The world is a lot smaller now given how fast distances are now traveled.

And they remained far away from us before, during and after the war. Germany never posed a serious threat to the US mainland. Facts.
