We have a young guy who was the #1 recruit in the nation in Trey Smith and others. We have talent... They just need to be coached up. We had recruiting under Jones but zero player development.

Campbell can work. His buyout is big but his salary is not. Pay him $6 mil, he keeps $3 mil and pays out 3 mil to ISU for 3 yrs. after than he gets the $6mil. BUT, HE has a big ass buyout here.

So far Campbell has peaked at 9 wins, not much better than Jones. Seems to get the team up for big games but then lose lesser games they should win. Paying for a $9 Mil buyout seems risky.
Brohm had 12 wins, although against an easier schedule. Not sure what his buyout is.
Hope they will at least talk to Mike Houston from JMU. Yes, it is a lower division school, but he won the FCS National Championship last year, and finished regular season 11-0 and appears to be moving toward another FCS NC. Defenses are in top 10 in all categories, and good offenses also. This guy can coach, and deserves consideration.

Going by recruiting rankings, you seriously believe the roster that Campbell inherited at IOWA STATE with one full recruiting class of his own is superior to Texas ( whose 2016 class was top 10) and WVa? It’s Iowa State! He needs a full cycle recruiting class before we can evaluate his talent gathering level.

Why do you think I-States AD negotiated such a huge buyout for Matt Campbell? It's because he knew what he had with this guy and that bigger programs would come sniffing! The guy is a rising star! He is going to be a big time coach somewhere! Might as well be here!
