this is now just funny. I wish it was my system first and foremost, i'd be doing something a lot different today i can tell you that. And in your system, losers like the Bayou Bengals get rewarded more than the teams that beat them.

secondly, if memory serves, LSU won the title game. FL didn't make it to the title game.
so, like my dad used to tell me when i was little, when i didn't agree with him "tough toe nails, deal with it".
it is what it is.
and i'm sure you'd have a resume ready to tout all the reasons why they would be "more deserving" according to you. none of which would over come the fact that someone else in their own conf. would be looking down on them chanting "we're number one".Boy that's wrong. The odds that a non-champ would get in are huge. I wouldn't be surprised if it happened the first year they went to that system.

you know, the more i think about it, we should just scrap the whole conf. title thing, and at the end of the year, everyone gets a co championship. that way everyone gets the warm fuzzies and banners and rings. college football socialism...healthcare soon to follow.........
i can see it now, no more SEC divisions or title games, everyone gets to keep their job because we simply don't care who wins the conf. anymore.
short of that, far be it for TN to get in to the title game as the underdog and heaven forbid win the thing. i'd feel guilty, like we robbed some other team of their right to play for and win the title.
in fact, i almost feel like apologizing to FL for the 01 game, since it's so apparent they were more deserving than us and LSU.
gimmie a break........
LOL.......what fact?Well, when you don't have decent argument I guess the best defense is to just go with facetious drivel.
I've brought facts and examples and even some theoretical situations. You've brought warm fuzzies, "the scoreboard doesn't lie", and "because you say so".
LOL.......what fact?
FL was more deserving than LSU.
wrong. FL LOST LSU WON. those are facts..
LSU was 3rd best/place, whatever you want to call it......wrong, they were 1st, best, champion, because the won the game. that is a fact.
anything else is pure speculation and conjecture on your part. you have tried to rip all those games up as much as possible, yet none of it removes the fact that TN beat FL to win the EASt. LSU won the WEst. and LSU won the title.
so, keep making lists of who's "deserving" based on whatever criteria you've made up, and i'll stick to who wins and loses, and we'll be just fine.
now you're coming around...finally.Wow, you posted something of substance. I guess one of out three isn't bad. You mention the who beat who scenarios, but you left out that LSU lost to three SEC teams, one of which was Florida. LSU = SEC champs. They deserved it. They deserved it based on the way the SEC is set up. The NCAA is not set up the same way. Thus, they don't deserve a shot at the national title more than Florida.
So settling it on the field only applies in the SEC championship game? Also, I never claimed that LSU wasn't SEC champs, but they weren't the best SEC team that year. If any SEC team deserved a shot at the title that year, it was Florida.
oops......look what i found.:birgits_giggle:Find where I saideth that. Don't bother looking, I never did.
They should do what they already do. That is, consider teams other than conference champions.
it happened twice, truth be known.BZZZ. Wrong answer. In order to be considered for the National Championship game, you should be required to be the recognized champion of your conference. How can you be the National Champion without being the conference champion? This has already proved to be the only correct answer, as the only time a non-conference champion was included in the National Championship Game, they received one of the greatest bowl game beat downs of all time.
