UT Football. Is it plausible to believe we can win it all?

The Big 10 has 7 teams in BCS bowls?

WHO?

Penn State, Michigan, Ohio State, Illinois (I think), maybe Wisconsin. Who else?

Wow, looking at those years - the B10 had some lean lean years. Ouch. Purdue was 8-4 in 2000 when they made the Rose Bowl.

They have their problems. Don't fall for the media hype that will surround these guys. Sure, they return a lot of talent, but this a group that lost to UCLA and Oregon St. last year.

And they have the Mustain circus coming to town to crash their party.

Please list all of the "problems" that USC has this year. Mustain is just another player riding the bench at USC.

Sadly, it's hard for me to give much respect to the Big East with teams like Cincinnati, South Florida, and especially... Uconn.. I'm not saying those teams aren't any good or won't be any good, just way too many schools with little or no tradition.

It will take me a bit longer to get used to it.

Exactly

see, that's what gets me. No one takes in to account what a team actually does........it's all about name recognition. that's the whole problem with polls these days. those teams you mentioned above, like it or not, deserving or not, all play in a BCS conf. If one of htem were to go undefeated they would not get a shot simply because of the "name" written across their chest.

Let me ask a question......how does a school get tradition? tradition has to start somewhere, and under the current system, it's not even possible to do so, because they don't have any to begin with.

ridiculous.

West Virginia and Louisville have done a good job. Miami certainly built tradition not too long ago. Cal is getting the recognition necessary to go to a BCS bowl and they were a national joke just a few years ago.

Running game unproven, recievers unproven, replacing key OL, etc, etc. But if you go by ESPN, they will have you thinking they are the 72 Dolphins.

Plus, they didn't look like world beaters last year with everything on the line against cross-town rivals UCLA. They looked pretty pathetic actually.

You do realize teams win championships the year after they lose a few games, right?

USC had to replace 1 key OL, not more than 1. Sam Baker is one of the top 2 OT in the country. They had the best defense in the conference last year and lost hardly anyone of note from it. I actually don't think John David Booty will smell the Heisman, because those running backs are going to improve from a decent 2006 and own the conference as well.

We have too many negatives going against us this year.
1. New WR
2. 3/4 new secondary
3. iffy d-line
4. crappy special teams(it's has been every other year so why not this one),
5. need a big improvement out of the o-line
6. inept coaching.

#6 by itself is almost too much to overcome, but with the rest I say no chance.

thats a good summary of the problems facing the team this year.

Yes, and they may. But it troubles me when people on this board hype USC as a team without problems.

But that one will be a big one.

Any team in the SEC would have had the best defense in the their conference last year (P10 had three teams that averaged less than 20 pts given up compared to 8 in the SEC). UT played three teams with better defenses than theirs.

I actually don't think John David Booty will smell the Heisman, because those running backs are going to improve from a decent 2006 and own the conference as well.
Our rushing stats were similar to USC last season (4.1 vs 3.7 per). And I expect our run game to improve as well.

I certainly don't like USC, but you have to admit they're the most talented team in the nation and it's their title to lose.
