Oh you mean those straps that are used by just about every group of white people you can find? I see more rednecks with chums that fraternity guys. They are abundant at any sporting event for just about every age group.

So it must be cool because rednecks do it?

you lost me

Way to go off the bolded part I was referring to, but yeah I've been fishing and seen people with chums on their sunglasses. What I was referring to was them being used by just about "every group of white people you can find". I don't see very many people with those things at all, so the comment seemed a bit silly.

I know - I was intentionally exaggerating.

Just to throw this out there, I'd say 7 times out of 10 guys wear what they wear to attract a certain type of female. If you are attracted to girls who generally like guys who dress in shorter shorts, an oxford, and Topsiders, you're probably going to adapt that style as your own. It's pretty well-known that Southern sorority girls find that style appealing, so it's no surprise that Southern fraternity guys will continue to wear it.

All I'll say on the matter is that many, many girls I know find shorter shorts attractive, as long as you you've gotten some sun.

Do you wear beat up sh*tty polo knock-off button downs and down kegs of Natty Light because you're too pathetic to buy anything decent?

Did you graduate college with a 2.2 GPA because you were too busy partying and killing your liver?

Do you think you're better than everyone else?

Did you have to buy a network of friends and connections because your vapid personality left you without the ability to build one for yourself?

You know, I have a Dean Learner T-shirt up on ebay right now you might be interested in if you wear a size large

As for the GPA stereotype... the fraternity cumulative GPA is higher than the non greek male GPA... so yeah, keep on with your baseless facts and "style"

After reading the replies on the link, I now remember why I thought Greeks were lame. Jeez Louise, what pathetic comments. What lame-o attempts at humor.

And to think that they (think that they) will be running the country in another decade or two.

Like the baseless generalizations that if you weren't in a fraternity, you probably wore cargo shorts and t-shirts with ketchup stains.

I'm not positive, but I don't believe that generalization was made. I believe the generalization was that if you are going to dislike the stereotypical style of Southern fraternity guys, then there's a good chance you are more of the "t-shirt and cargo shorts" style.

So it's a generalization with context, then.

I'll have you know most of my t-shirts don't have ketchup stains, they have mustard stains.

As a non-Greek UT student with many friends who are Greek and many who are not, I would like to give some perspective. The problem a lot of people have with fraternity guys is that they seclude themselves and rarely make friends with guys outside their fraternity. Why? I do not know. By not making friends with other people they give off a superiority complex to others. I would also like to add I've met more than a few who are just complete A**holes when in large groups. This is probably just large groups of males in general. The whole making fun of what people wear also gives people a crappy view on them. One of my best friends is all short shorts and sperrys and we constantly make fun of each other in good fun. It is a style. One I don't participate in, but I'm not sure why that makes me a t-shirt and ketchup guy. Btw bassman...Lost a lot of respect for you if fashion really makes you judge people that much.

I was on campus the other day and saw these guys crossing the street. I was rolling. Had to take a pic for this thread. Kinda hard to see, but they are exactly like the dudes in the posed pic earlier.
