you need to check some stats - they say he is a top ten coach. i am sure I will take a lot of flack for this but I guarantee that when CPF leaves people will talk about "the good ole days". It always happens that way.

There is more to determining the best coaches out there by records.

Would I say Fulmer is the best coach in the game right now? Probably not. Out of how many hundred coach football at the college level, saying he is the best is a pretty damn big statement. You've got Pete Carroll who if he wins his 3rd straight AP Title will cement in the list of great coaches. Bobby Bowden and Joe Paterno (even if Penn State sucks now) are living legends. Bob Stoops is in the middle of an incredible run at Oklahoma, five straight 11-win seasons is just plain crazy. Jeff Tedford has taken Cal and turned them from doormat to top-tier in the bat of an eye, in one of the most remarkable program turnarounds in recent history. I still think one could call Spurrier the most dominant coach in SEC history.

And yes, Fulmer has his shortcomings. We all know UT is a powerhouse but tends to fail to win "the big ones" more than it should. But the same can be said of Mack Brown at Texas, Bob Stoops' team choking in the bowl games, Bowden's FSU teams becoming gradually less powerful, etc.

But with all that, I'm okay with it. We don't have to expect perfection every season. It comes maybe what, once a decade for the top programs in the country. So to all those who want Fulmer gone, think of the odds that UT could make a better hire than Fulmer. They are not very high.

Who knows. Chavis is the only one I can see really being an HC in the staff, and that's only kinda. I'd get the feeling UT would go for an outside hire.
