UT under potential NCAA investigation for NIL

Wonder why Forde didn’t write an article on the gators? Everyone except Vandy will be investigated by the NCAA soon.
I think Vandy is the worst offender, and they are smart about it. The smokescreen they use to not "show their hand" is to lose a lot. That deflects the attention away from their shenanigans.

Thinking the NCAA has probably shifted all of their investigative resources to NIL. The ultimate relevance for NCAA would be to gather “evidence” and create a report for Congress showing how NIL is horrible for college athletics. They will heavily push for legislation to save their a@@es.
They will try. The problem is that Congress can't legislate against NIL without nullifying the Interstate Commerce Act, and that's not going to happen.

If they do try to weasel sound it, it will get thrown out by SCOTUS.

The bottom line is that what the NCAA is doing is a backdiir trying to conrr

Alabama ranks number 2 nationally in NIL money.
P5 NIL Team Rankings (from on3):
1 - Texas $19.9 mil
2 - Alabama $16 mil
3 - tOSU 13.6 mil
4 - USC 13.5 mil
5 - Georgia 13.4 mil
6 - Colorado 12.3 mil
7 - Michigan 11.6 mil
8 - Oregon 11.6 mil
9 - Tennessee 11.6 mil
10 - Florida State 10.2 mil
Actually, Spyre has around $21 million to work with. This is directly from my Spyre representative friend.

At the time of the flight the collective was not allowed to have anything to do with the school. They also couldn't obligate the player to any school. If this was followed then I'm curious why the NY Times calls Spyre a "booster" at that time. Again, if done correctly, there's no real paper trail back to UT.

Consider what NCAA is doing as fact finding. Going to create a report to show congress? Hoping for congressional legislation to try and trump the bills coming out of the states-which are very “unfriendly” to NCAA.

Which it seems there are very few states that seem to be “friendly” to the NCAA. There are probably a few that might be willing to listen to them on the legal argument, but the overwhelming majority of them seem to be circling their wagons to protect the institutions within their state. This is happening in states with red and blue leadership, so it seems to be agnostic to the political winds.

The only thing that makes any sense is a Hail Mary power play to try to claw back a little power from the super conferences and the institutions that have leaned heavily into the NIL scene.

Pat Forde has NO job. The situation with Sports Illustrated is complex, and its cancellation doesn't necessarily spell doom and gloom for the entire print magazine industry. Here's a breakdown of the situation and its potential implications:

Current Situation:

Publication License: Sports Illustrated's current publisher, Arena Group, lost its license to publish the magazine due to financial issues. However, the owner, Authentic Brands Group, aims to find another publisher for the magazine.
Future Uncertain: Whether Sports Illustrated will continue as a print magazine or solely as a digital platform remains unclear.

Was a very well written letter by Chancellor Plowman but the general message could have been condensed to 6 words. “We will see you in court.”
Girl did it right when those she entrusted did it wrong. Now they’re back sniffing and she has her virtual newspaper ready.

Interesting on the Interstate Commerce Act. Seems like a fool’s errand for an NCAA backed into a corner.

So, if it’s about the flight and there’s nothing else, why not just make Nico reimburse the cost? Seems I remember recruits of other teams having to do it in the past. Would it be the time frame of the Pruitt investigation conclusion that is causing the rub? Honest question

I don’t know who all is left out there for NSD, but I hope the right people from UT get in their ear and reassure them.
I despise the NCAA and Forde as much as I despise the Gulf Of Mexico and the Taliban
That is what you call a "Trifecta" and almost sounds like a Julie Andrews song from the Sound of Music (These are a few of my unfavorite things)..

Like we care what Pat Foole says. And it's something about NIL? You can't violate anything related to NIL. There's pretty much no rules anymore.

The moment the NCAA tries to force this hand is the moment they get obliterated. Are they going to go after any school where the independent NIL collective works with a player to get them transportation? They'll have no playoff, no postseason, and no reason to exist.

Note it says potential, nothing to see hear. No way as they have a firm and lawyers handling this, so all the NIL has to be legit.
Hang on now, lawyers can sure as heck give illegal advice. I’ve seen it quite often. Thankfully it’s not prevalent though.
