The NCAA probably did leak it as a response to the publication of Plowman's letter. This will get ugly .... and used against us in recruiting.I bet the NCAA leaked this:

This seemed to the boast about Tennessee in the origins of NIL. They were building it the “right” way.At the time of the flight the collective was not allowed to have anything to do with the school. They also couldn't obligate the player to any school. If this was followed then I'm curious why the NY Times calls Spyre a "booster" at that time. Again, if done correctly, there's no real paper trail back to UT.

They're not likely to go after Nico for accepting the flight. It's not his job to police those who recruited him. They're going after UT, likely, for offering the flight. So, if it’s about the flight and there’s nothing else, why not just make Nico reimburse the cost? Seems I remember recruits of other teams having to do it in the past. Would it be the time frame of the Pruitt investigation conclusion that is causing the rub? Honest question
They will try. The problem is that Congress can't legislate against NIL without nullifying the Interstate Commerce Act, and that's not going to happen.
If they do try to weasel sound it, it will get thrown out by SCOTUS.
The bottom line is that what the NCAA is doing is a backdiir trying to conrr
Well that seems to be the crux of the matter, no? If UT can prove there was no collaboration/involvement with Spyre here, this seems like a tenuous accusation. They're not likely to go after Nico for accepting the flight. It's not his job to police those who recruited him. They're going after UT, likely, for offering the flight.
The next $1 mil will be spent on lawyers for the court trial. The NCAA probably did leak it as a response to the publication of Plowman's letter. This will get ugly .... and used against us in recruiting.
Ultimately, it will do some more damage, but mostly on the recruiting front. I don't expect any future penalties from the NCAA to be severe, because we do have ammunition to fight back with. NIL guidelines have indeed been ambiguous and perpetually changing. This is uncharted territory in many ways. Mistakes are being made, but how do you prove intent, over something so new and unclear? I suspect that the NCAA is targeting Tennessee for this (when many other schools could also be in play) because they feel like we skated too easily over the Pruitt violations.
Severing the connections between NIL collectives and the universities has been the plan all along. The ruling against FSU proves that if there is even a hint/suggestion that an NIL deal is tied in any way to an athlete’s decision to play for a particular university; a violation has occurred. Essentially, the NCAA wants NIL agencies to represent the athletes independently with no ties at all to universities and recruiting. If they haven't done anything wrong, they should. By suggesting that Spyre broke the rules, the NCAA is damaging Spyre's business.
Seems as if there’s no paper trail to UT for the flight, things would be a bit speculative. I guess that’s the point of the investigation and this jackass just decided to run with it because his employer is folding up shopThey're not likely to go after Nico for accepting the flight. Making Nico pay for something UT funded for him apparently before he was even a student at the school seems quite a stretch.
I'm curious how the NCAA keeps finding out things on UT. While some folks want to say the NCAA has it in for UT, I think it's MUCH more likely one or more of our rivals is tipping the NCAA off on things.
What is this?
Nico is Spyre’s client. They can 100% fly him out to discuss his NIL opportunities. Do they have proof they only flew him out for recruiting and not to meet with Spyre?Seems as if there’s no paper trail to UT for the flight, things would be a bit speculative. Meeshigan. Ducked out of the spotlight…They're not likely to go after Nico for accepting the flight. It's not his job to police those who recruited him. They're going after UT, likely, for offering the flight.
