UT Vs. Arkansas Thread

We should have been going downfield and kicking subsequent onsides kicks with 14:00 left.

We should have been throwing downfield all game in my opinion. The rollouts with passes into the flat did absolutely nothing. Those plays were like 70% of our offense through the first 3 quarters.

Who knows? Maybe some of the urgency went out of our coaches, translating into bad practices.

You know what I think happened? It really pains me to say this, because I think CPF is a good man. BUT, I think sitting at 5-1, Fulmer could tell the pressure was OFF. EVERYONE was ecstatic, we had hopes, and he had no weight on his head anymore. And he got lazy again. He got freaking lazy, just like the last few seasons. He's being lazy! And now, we're playing like crap again.

probably not, but i will have us 0-2 starting the season. florida and arkansas are going to beat us. i consider them already as L's. like i said you have to keep with the low expectations.

Arky doesn't lose a ton, but they do lose 3 starting OL and the starting TE. On defense, they lose 1 DL, 2 LBs, and 1 DB as starters.

On the flip side, we lose 2, and maybe 3, of our best WRs, our starting FB, and 2 OL. The FB has done very little and while one OL is our best, the other is our worst starter. On defense, we lose 2 starting DL, 1 starting LB, and 2 starting DBs. It isn't like we lose half the team and they lose nobody.

Announcers are idiots

"This is Cutcliffe wanting to see him in this situation."

HE'S BEEN IN THIS SITUATION FOR 45 MINUTES!

Sir
I have watched college football since 1956.
As I sit in the NW section of RR Stadium right now, I can definitely say the Vols are less talented by quite a bit.
The Hogs are quicker and faster.
DMac is AMAZING.
Coaching is about equal.

CP
Minus Mcfadden yall are mediocre

This game was ugly. We got outclassed in every area. I know we were playing with a freshman qb but still, we got beat in every area. Granted this isn't the same team at the start of the season (injuries). But still.....

I think that games like this are the reason that CPF isn't known as the "Dean of SEC Coaches" (and won't be until he wins them). These are the games you have to win (or at least be competitive in) if you want to be known as the real deal as a coach.

I like Jim Tressel at Ohio State. His teams are always competitive and I don't think that he's lost any games like this. (The SEC is tougher than the Big 10 but still). Even in his sole loss to Michigan, they were competitive.

Or Randy Walker at Northwestern--they were always out classed in talent but found a way to have winning seasons--they were a tough, scrappy football team which overachieved.

If we wanted to make a clean break, do what Ohio State did. Find a coach who's a proven winner (Jim Tressel had won multiple championships in D-II) and bring him in.

You really can't count losing COry Anderson as losing a starter, can you? He hasn't started in quite awhile. He won't hurt us.

Do we have any superstars waiting to take their place?

Losing our two best linemen and two DB's is pretty bad. We are very thin in those areas. Also, we won't have Marvin Mitchell, who has been solid. I'm pretty worried about our defense next year.

On offense, I don't know if our running game will improve. If not, it could be ugly. We will probably lose our top 3 receivers. The gap between receiver #3 and #4 is immense in my opinion. All that has me worried that next year will not be a great one. I know that sound pessimistic, but I'm trying to be realistic.
