UT vs. KU

Our D looked like horse####. This team just refuses to give a consistent effort on D. The refs were awful as well. Overall, a game that made you want to pull your hair out.

I wonder how much of this is some of the Tennessee players who have a shot at pro ball using their time as a Vol as a pro development league than actually playing all that hard for the name on the front of the uniform??...

Haven't us Vol fans been through this before with some of the UT football teams of the last decade??....

If that's what they think they're doing someone needs to inform them that the NBA won't be impressed by their performances unless they can start ringing up 20+ points a game.

Optimists can use this as something to build on...The Vols outscored the Jayhawks 76-67 after being down 25-9.....

I agree...I was just throwing that out there...

Just sometimes, in watching this team this year you see them being pretty selfish...Seems to be playing for the name on the back of the jersey instead of the one on front...

I think they have all the talent in the world and Pearl has been a God-send to this program but if they don't start playing with the same intensity as Pearl's other teams this is going to be a mediocre year....If they figure it out, they can be as good as almost anyone in the country....

Here's hoping they figure it out....

God I know. Williams and Prince are the absolute worst about that, but almost everyone does it. This team needs to learn to let those things go, and just keep playing hard. They have no control of over the refs, and it's pretty clear that complaining about it isn't helping them.

This is true. Its a trend and its annoying. They look like whining babies after every foul... only Tyler and a few of the freshman don't do it.... yet.

If these guys think calls went against them today just wait till they go on the road in conference play.....

Mentally tough teams get over it and move on to the next play....

They shouldn't have to shake off bad call after bad call. There is no excuse for the atrocious calls I saw today. Every time Tennessee would start getting some momentum the bad calls would suddenly start rearing their ugly heads again. Very suspicious.

It's called playing on the road....

Past Pearl teams won at places such as Florida and Memphis..My recollection of those games were that the Vols didn't get many foul calls to go their way....

These Vols are just not that mentally tough right now....

I agree there were bad calls but they were playing Kansas at Kansas...They were not going to get many calls and they knew that going in....

Sorry but I'm calling BS here. I was at the game and sat about 12 rows up over behind the UT Bench. KU got maybe 1 call the whole game at that end. I think KU got a couple calls on the other end (The foul against Cole when he dunked with about 8 mins in the game) so all in all I beleive it evened out.

You all shot 34 free throws to our 25 and in the 1st half 12 to 3 so you can't complain about that.

What did you in was your 3 pt shooting or lack there of.
Good luck the rest of the year I'll be rooting for you

Please. Aldrich had about 17 fouls and 4 uncalled travels. The ft disparity only reflects our lack of defensive aggression, not some mythical level officiating day.

Im not as worried about ref's making a lot of calls as I am about them being inconsistent with the calls. All season around the NCAA I've seen ticky-tack crap being called over and over. It slows the game down, just let them play.

Well, I was there as well and from where I sat it seemed that KU got the majority of the close calls. That being said, KU clearly was the better team Saturday and should have won the game. With defense like we played Saturday we will have a VERY hard time winning the SEC this year. It just frustrates me when during crucial stretches of a game some officials seem to swing too far one way or the other. They either swallow their whistle or can't stop blowing it. The first 10 minutes or so where KU built the 25-9 lead was the deciding factor and it was during that strecth that the officials swallowed their whistles on more than a few of Tennessee's possesions. I was on end of the Tennessee basket and it seemed like we were getting mauled underneath. I have not seen the game on TV so I'm willing to admit that I could be wrong and the calls/no calls were correct. Just telling you what I saw from the GA section.

I would like to tip my hat to everyone who made it to the game. I thought that there were a good number of Vol fans there considering the travelling distance. I even met a fellow Volnation poster while in Allen Fieldhouse.

One more thing, can anyone tell me if anything was said during the game about the Morris twins and their actions? They seemed to be out of control and hot-headed.

Funny thing, as i was walking in the Fieldhouse on the ground floor I bumped into Cole Aldrich as he was running out to the court. Literally. I said excuse me and got out of his way. I turned to my wife (who is a Jayhawk) and said "I should have tripped him or something....... " Well, I had my chance.

I don't think the announcers said anything about the Morris twins other than they're foul prone.... but I read something on a KU message board something alone the lines of "______ Morris (whichever it was), trying to start a scuffle or fight once again and jawing"... dunno what exactly he said... but it was when him and Tyler Smith got into it.. so its in their history obviously.
