haven't read the entire thread so SIAP, but if the band is going to play "Send In The Clowns", regardless of who the guest musician is, maybe it needs to have it's role reduced.
it would be more entertaining than "Send In The Clowns"
It was one song and it was their ballad. Good marching shows have pacing. Having an in your face show for the whole show will wear your audience out and disinterest them. I thought it was a good choice. I loved it personally. Not every show is for everyone. I thought that this past weeks was well done. To each their own. Like I said had the band not raised a concern (which is valid in itself. The presentation has been horrid though) then no one would say anything about that show.
What needs to happen is for every mars or carmina burana the band plays, there needs to be a pitbull or Macklemore to contrast it. There's nothing wrong with classics in stands tunes (how many bands play Hey Baby and the crowd love it? The answer is a lot.) they just need stuff that promotes more crowd involvement. It just so happens that modern music is the current in thing for that excluding things like hey baby and the hey song that are stands tunes classics.
You really would be ok knowing your daughter, or son, is being ridden on the 50 yardline of a football stadium, as long as others were entertained? That's wrong, on so many levels.
Why does it have to be either? I don't like send in the clowns any more than I like twerking. And my comment had NOTHING to do with the dance team, just with the band and it's music selection

And, yet again, I agree the band needs to upgrade the folder. However, they have to appease THEIR donors, just like the AD does theirs. The AD pays meal money and travel, but their scholarships come from individual donors. So, unless you've marched, or have a scholarship for a member, you have no place to demand things from them.
