Utah State feeling confident

Have they ever played in a stadium with the capacity of Neyland? If they arent accustomed to it they will get rattled early. Lets face it its opening weekend they have to.come across the country play under the lights in front of 100,000 fans and its nationally televised. Neyland will be rocking especially of they go three and out first possession.

I dont like states chances.

"For anyone who has ever played on a football field in a big game, when you’re on the field running plays and competing, all the fans start to fade away. There’s a noise factor, but we’ve played in loud stadiums and big games. We know how to handle ourselves there."

“It’s a big environment, but we’ve been in similar environments before,” Fackrell said

We'll see about that. I'll be sure to be extra loud, even when we're up by 30. And no, I won't sit down. Do the same - let's help out our team one of the few ways we can on Sunday! :banghead2::banghead2::rock::rock:

They better get use to hearing Rocky Top over and over. Might make the crowd nice fade out but fading out Rocky top will not happen.

In all honesty, why wouldnt they be confident? Its not like were the UT of the 90's. Granted, I think we win by a couple TD's, but i cant blame them for being confident, they should be.

and its not exactly like USU has been beating any good teams either. Some folks are hyping them way too much.

I think that's his point. UT isn't that good of a team, right now.

I think UT wins by 17 but if UT starts slow and the crowd is on their hands it could be a struggle. A big stadium only helps if it's loud.

They may not be for an SEC level team but USU is not in the ballpark either. i agree though. Their team has more holes than ours. Thats saying something.I just dont see this being the game everyone thinks. Might be close for a while but as it goes on UT will seperate pretty heavily. As far as the atmosphere i think the weekend sets up really well for a home opener. Its going to rock.

98 degrees with Vereen and Maggitt going after Chuckie's legs.

yep

all this talk about chuckie is one thing. Its a whole different animal when youre not wearing a red jersey. The guy hasnt been hit since October. In practice they get close to him and pull up and blow the whistle. He will be behind a new O Line just like UT. Guys on defense will just be trying to get him down any way possible. USU staff can say what they want right now in the interviews but its a whole different monster when the live bullets are flying. I believe its a bigger deal than people are making it esp after seeing our players struggle with recovery over longer periods of time than its been for Chuckie. Their RB had the same injury a week before Chuckie did. These pundits talking about about this game in the media, radio, etc never mention this.

hes not recovering from an ACL/MCL injury last October either. Its just as much mental as it physical. If you believe all this talk how USU "isnt worried about it" then youre kidding yourself.

You're a classic example of battered fan syndrome. Relax.

Their confidence is TOTALLY misguided. They are a 9 win team AT BEST in a WEAK conference.

Don't get me wrong. I think it will probably be tight... Chuckie Keeton and Joe Hill are both pretty good, but they are getting little league syndrome for sure...

By that I mean everyone around them is telling them how great they are and they are going to get deflated... QUICKLY. They are a "dark horse playoff contender"... Chuckie Keeton is a "dark horse Heisman candidate"...

The places that have been putting that out are all local press that aren't even bold enough in their predictions to drop the "dark horse" qualifier.

I think UT is still a year away from being back to where they were when I feel in love with the orange and white as a kid, but I think they walk out of this one with a good win.

UT: 31 USU: 13
