Utah State scrimmage report

call me mr. weatherman or mr. snowmeizer or whatever you want. that's statistical data from a weather center that measures humidity. I'll take that over mr. "feels purty wet ou' hur today, yawl."

With all due respect, we could play this game in Death Vally or in Mile High Stadium and we would still run you guys off the field.

I don't care what that chart says and I'm not even going to bother reading it. Why? I work outside for a living. I've lived here my whole life so I'm even used to it. You take one step outside and instantly you can feel your clothes sticking to you and breathing sucks. Day in and day out I'm not picking one specific day. I live it and it's humid. Read your charts all you want. Hope you make it down on game day.

This will be like the CAL game where they rolled into Neyland not knowing what is waiting for them...

I had my airfare booked for Nashville, but decided to switch up last week. I'll traveling home from Honduras and probably won't see the game until midnight Mountain Time on my DVR.

Thought you'd done your homework Natureboy. you're usually not wrong with this stuff: Utah State Aggies vs. New Mexico Lobos - Recap - October 19, 2013 - ESPN

Perhaps you meant UNLV?

I did. Sorry... you all look the same to me :).

FWIW, I am not "Natureboy" and don't know him. I use one screen name in every forum I participate in- sjt18. I don't post many other places any more but this has been my name on your site, an NCSU site a couple of years ago, ESPN when they had accessible no cost boards, college football news before Scout bought them,...

I am willing to admit when I am wrong. So I have no reason to run from comments or a single name.

Pretty sure that most of my friends and cohorts here do not speak in that manner at all. If you're going to troll here at least act like you have some small shred of intelligence

It's interesting you think the geographical location of the stadium will be an advantage for the Vols. Olympic runners train in the Rocky Mountains to train their lungs to perform even in low oxygen levels so that when they run in lower elevations they can go twice as far. Every time I visit TN it amazes me how easy it is to run 5 miles.

Fortunately for us, the winner isn't determined by which team most easily runs 5 miles :hi:

cool use of the thesaurus. I have plenty of intelligence. I've posted plenty of neutral, unbiased posts only to have them trolled for 10 pages. I've said, repeatedly, that I see UT winning this game. But it doesn't matter. All that gets pulled out is "MWC HAHAHA SEC BLAHBLAHBLAH"

well, they'll get an extra day to acclimate since the game is on sunday instead of saturday. the 95% you give is the high humidity in august.

"The air is driest around August 31, at which time the relative humidity drops below 58% (mildly humid) three days out of four; it is most humid around August 2, rising above 93% (very humid) three days out of four."

so according to that, on average, the highest humidity on august 31 (which just happens to be the date of our game) is 58%. more than a typical day in utah for sure, but not smothering.

Average Weather In August For Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - WeatherSpark

Not that it matters because it's not going to be the deciding factor in this game but your weather skills are way off. The graph shown is showing the average highest and lowest humidity for each day of August. Humidity is highest late night early morning and lowest during the afternoon. It's the combination of heat and humidity during the afternoon that usually makes it stifling this time of year. Humidity at night here is usually 35-40% higher then it is during the afternoon unlike somewhere like Gainesville where it's 80-85% during the day and near 100% at night.

that's true for late at night. looking at today, the lowest humidity is from 6-9 pm, then it gets higher until 6-9 AM tomorrow where it goes down again and repeats the cycle. the game time is in the perfect low spot, which i'm sure the 104,000 fans will appreciate.

Todd Howell?

I found it interesting that the coach claimed not to be worried . . . more than once.

I believe this game is going to be a challenge for the Vols...especially in the beginning. Advantages for Vols; The Aggies will not be used to the heat and humidity, TN is bigger and stronger, 100K fans! The crowd can really help in this game. Their home stadium only holds 25,513 fans. Let's make it loud!!!

Wow! That's UTC size!!
Hope it's 100 degrees & 95% humidity!

fact is fact, they were a horrible team. If a 13 year old told you that they got into a fight with a high school senior and almost won, that is an impressive feat. But when it is revealed that that high school senior is a 13 year old as well, that feat seems less impressive.

I read this with Mike....and we just laughed...

I'm not bashing USU at all. I'm not sure what UT has this year, and I know USU has played some big time programs close the last several years. I'm thinking it will be a competitive game

Edit: I get it that it's actually named after popular Mormons, but this is just the first thing that popped in my head. :)

Its actually named after 14 time NFL Pro-Bowl DT Merlin Olsen (a Logan Ut native and USU Alum) and USU's winningest coach, Dick Romney, compiling a career college football record of 128–91–16. Romney was also the head basketball coach and Athletic Director at the same time with a W/L record of 224–158.

I remember that 91 UCLA game. People were passing out right and left and they ran out of ice before half time. I can't remember a game ever being played in Neyland that was anywhere close to being that hot.

Today is an exceptionally nice August day for Knoxville, cool and low humidity. I wouldn't count on August 31st being as nice.

I'm sure it wasnt as hot as the UCLA game, but the 2005 UAB game had a heat index well into the 100s. Ive never seen people passing out like that. It was miserable and so was the play on the field. And of course that went on to be one of the biggest let down seasons ever!
