Ut's (re) commitment list under kiffin

Kiffin is now 0-2 as far as high profile recruits previously committed to UT (Boyd and now Giles). His strong suit was supposed to be recruiting.

Read before you post. Boyd was let go, he didn't leave. Giles was gone with Fulmer, he was just putting on a show. Neither are Kiffin's mistakes.

Those bummed out about Giles: I would not worry about it because we have two quality backs coming in. It may be good for us because then we may go after Bryce Brown.

lol people see the plane goes to Kansas and start the Bryce Brown rumor. He went to Kansas to SEE JUCO players not Brown.

I doubt Kiffin told Boyd to take a hike, a friend of mine and I decided that Kiffin probably wouldn't promise him that he would ever start at QB so he decided to go somewhere else. Maybe we are wrong, but it makes sense, and if it is the reason he decided to decommitt then good riddance.

we need a QB coach!!! get us a good one and im not talking about a 3 star QB from TX we've seen how good they are (Nick Stephens)!!

darn right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the 4/5 star studs have really done wonders in Miami and Tallahassee (I hate to say that) the last 5 yrs!!!

Anyone without tons of 4/5 * players can't win in college! texas Tech , Utah, and Boise St SUCK!:birgits_giggle:

STUPID COMMENT!

Boyd does not fit the system and Giles is listed 4th behind 3 rb commitments UT already has! Get over it. He was a Fulmer fan and afraid of competition! Good luck to him and CSS!

Kiffin is recruiting players he needs in his system. Get over it.
1) Boyd didn't fit.
2) Oku is better than Giles and is willing to compete for a job without telling the new head coach who he has to keep on his staff.

If Kiffin tells Berry he has to compete to be a starter, there's NO WAY he should tell anyone they'll be starting at UT. CLK is filtering out the non-competitive players (read losers). I love it!

I don't buy the bullsh&t about finding a perfect QB to fit LK's "system." You recruit dynamic athletes who can learn your system. Give them an honest shot to compete for the starting position. If they don't work out at QB, find another position for them (Banks) or let them transfer (Suggs, Stewart). No harm, no foul. Happens all of the time. While James Banks made idiotic off-the-field decisions, he was a pretty decent receiver in '03 once he switched positions.

We're going to be stuck with the same 3 QBs we had this year, and I guarantee by December 2009 most of the people on this board will wish we had Boyd. I think Boyd is a great prospect, and I bet he'll kick ass next year.

It's highly unlikely that we sign even a mediocre QB in this class, which means we're looking at 2010 (assuming Kiffin can get a true frosh ready to play) before we even have a serviceable QB. 2011 is more likely if the coaching staff doesn't want the QB to end up like Jimmy Clausen, who's a basketcase after getting pummelled his entire frosh year. Folks, 2011 is a long way away. Just being realistic.

No one said Boyd wasn't a good prospect. This isn't Kiffin's first rodeo, he saw something he didn't like. What that is may be anyone's guess. Kiffin was just being honest with Boyd. Boyd doesn't want to play another position and Kiffin said that he probably wouldn't play QB in his system. Look for Kiffin to sign a guy that is tall with a rocket arm and good accuracy. Alot of times guys like that can't really play other possitions because all they have ever played is QB.

There is alot more to playing QB than physical qualities though. You have to be able to understand and run the system. Look at Peyton, we can all agree that he isn't an awsome athlete, yet he is one of the best QBs in history. There is more to it than just recruiting athletes and plugging them in. Thats what CPF did, it didn't work most of the time.

Add Eric Gordon to the Commited list!

Sorry Eric but your avitar makes me think naughty things and should be pulled. Ask any thumper here and they will tell you the same thing. But welcome to Romper Room 101.

Need to add uncertainty list in response to the Fulmer list. The list would include Askew.

Thanks for the list but there are players there that have not been a confirmation if they are committed or not under the new realm. Askew, Shackelford, Revis and Thorton for examples. This is the Kiffin list I update as I get word of new commits or Fulmer commits that are re-commiting under the new coach. This list will include previous commits (2007 or '08) that could not make it due to academics.
