I don't buy the bullsh&t about finding a perfect QB to fit LK's "system." You recruit dynamic athletes who can learn your system. Give them an honest shot to compete for the starting position. If they don't work out at QB, find another position for them (Banks) or let them transfer (Suggs, Stewart). No harm, no foul. Happens all of the time. While James Banks made idiotic off-the-field decisions, he was a pretty decent receiver in '03 once he switched positions.
We're going to be stuck with the same 3 QBs we had this year, and I guarantee by December 2009 most of the people on this board will wish we had Boyd. I think Boyd is a great prospect, and I bet he'll kick ass next year.
It's highly unlikely that we sign even a mediocre QB in this class, which means we're looking at 2010 (assuming Kiffin can get a true frosh ready to play) before we even have a serviceable QB. 2011 is more likely if the coaching staff doesn't want the QB to end up like Jimmy Clausen, who's a basketcase after getting pummelled his entire frosh year. Folks, 2011 is a long way away. Just being realistic.
